Smallville

November 8, 2002: Loeb Talks “Smallville”

The guys at the Comicon "Pulse" website caught up with Jeph Loeb to ask him about his job working on the hit TV show "Smallville".

Q: What do you like best about working on Smallville?

LOEB: First, how Al and Miles make me laugh -- they have a wicked sense of humor and it makes the day so much more enjoyable, since the work is fairly relentless. Secondly, the group of fellow writers. We work our asses off trying to make the show better than last year and that's not easy given how strong last year was. But, we know that the audience is growing and the second year is always the key to getting to Years 3, 4, and 5. At the same time, the group has a sense of humor about what we do and that translates to a great working environment. When we laugh, it's to the point of crying. Then, it's back on the wheel, making it work.

Q: Which character(s) do you enjoy the most? What about each makes him/her a favorite?

LOEB: They all have their sparks of wonder. Clark/Lex comes immediately to mind, but the emotion of Clark/Lana, the fun of Chloe, the villainy of Lionel, the heart of Jonathan and Martha, the innocence of Pete -- it's all very rich stuff.
