August 29, 2002: Gough & Millar Talk “Smallville” Season 2

In the October 2002 issue of Wizard magazine, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar talk about the second season of "Smallville".

"I think next season opens many new areas for us which we can explore, and we're particularly interested in looking at Clark's origin and his continual journey of self-discovery," says Millar, "I think over the course of the season, he'll really begin to understand where he comes from and what part he plays in the universe, in the grand scheme of things.

Gough adds that "Clark will be getting a new superpower-something you have seen before, though not as what you'd think was a superpower. Also, one of the friends will learn the secrets, and that's something I think will put a new spin on things. Oh, we'll also be introducing red kryptonite."

As for familiar friends in Metropolis, Gough reveals that Lois Lane and Perry White will show up during season 2. "Lois is in college. She's just a few years older than Clark, Lana and Chloe. And Perry White is a struggling, young reporter in his 20s. Working for the Daily Planet is a distant dream for Perry at this stage of his life. But Lois is in college, and I don't think Lois and Clark get along at all."
