March 20, 2002: Fans Looking to Create Superman Game

In July 2001 we reported on Shane Deavers and a group of Superman fans who were developing an open source game based on the Roger Stern novel "The Death and Life of Superman".

The project, called "Cadmus", was put on the back-burner for a while but has now started up again. The group of programmers are searching for other Programmers, Graphic Artists, and Sound Artists who are interested in being a part of this project. Shane and his group have contacted DC Comics who have given their blessing to the project.

Anybody interested in being a part of this project should email Shane Deavers at shane@djis.net.

This open source project hopes to retale the saga in a 3D game incorporating the death of Superman battling Doomsday, the Reign of the Supermen, and finally the return of the real Superman at the end. The group plan to first release several screenshots and finally the free open source game for fans to download. They also have a newsletter which you can sign up for for all the latest information on the game.

For more information visit the "Cadmus Project" website.
