Superman Adventures #41

April 20, 2002: Mark Millar Talks Superman

The Superman Homepage caught up with fan-favorite writer Mark Millar at this weekend's Australian "SuperNova 2002" pop-culture convention.

Mark Millar wrote some of the best issues of the (now cancelled) "Superman Adventures" comic book series, and also co-wrote some issues of the regular Superman comics a few years ago.

A regular visitor to this website, Mark told me that his loooooong awaited "Superman: Red Son" is finally about to be released!!! This book has been 5 years in the making! But Mark tells us it will be well worth the wait. The art is supposed to be spectacular, and Mark thinks it is one of the best Superman stories he's ever written.

Sadly Mark is now a stranger to DC Comics, having had bad experiences with the comic book publishing company, and would absolutely love to come back to writing Superman comics some time in the future.

How big a Superman fan is Mark Millar? Well, I don't know if he'd necessarily like me sharing this story, but he told me that at age 8 he was waiting in line to see "Superman: The Movie" in 1979. He was so excited about seeing the movie that he threw up. :)

Look for "Superman: Red Son" to appear in stores some time later this year.
