Superman #177

September 28, 2001: Superman's December "Monster Fest"

If you've looked through the DC Comics Solicitations for December, you would have undoubtedly seen the cover for "Superman #177" (shown to the right).

The cover shows a small Japanese-style "Superman" toy flying out of its package. The Superman Homepage had a quick chat with super-scribe Jeph Loeb who gives us this little insight into the issue:

"Those little guys are called SUPERMAN JET -- and they'll be flyin' around in the issue."

And if you're wondering what the Japanese writing on the package of the toys says... "I believe that logo says SUPERMAN".

The solicitation information for this issue reads:

What's Santa got in his bag for Superman this year? A brand-new Toyman, made in Japan, that's who. And he's looking to add Metallo to his collection of giant robots.

Toyman teaming up with Metallo?

According to Jeph Loeb, "Toyman isn't exactly teaming up with Metallo as you will see. New Toyman too -- Made in Japan. It also features MRRAUGH (from Superman #163) and two new characters, KILLER MOTH and BLING. It's a Monster fest!"

"All this... and The Metropolis E-Mail bag -- for that holiday flavor."

Looking forward to it!
