September 14, 2001: Superman's Eerie Coincidence
Newsarama have spoken to artist Mike Wieringo over the eerie coincidence of life imitating art as seen on page 2 of this week's Adventures of Superman #596. The issue's story - the cleanup after the "Our Worlds at War" storyline, featured a panel where the twin LexCorp Towers in Metropolis are shown to have extensive damage in their upper portions, with smoke pouring out of them.Adventures of Superman artist Mike Wieringo realized the coincidence with a heavy heart. "I really didn't make any mental connection between Adventures of Superman #596 and what happened this past Tuesday at all-- that is until I started seeing posts on various message boards about the issue and how, in some folks' opinions, how tasteless and creepy it is.
People should keep in mind that this book was completed months ago.
