September 6, 2001: Joe Kelly Talks JLA

According to the Comics Continuum, new JLA writer Joe Kelly tells us to expect the team's lineup "to shuffle, but not at first."

"I love all these characters, so I like the team that we've got now," said Kelly, who joins artist Doug Mahnke beginning with JLA #61. "There's so much material to explore. There are definitely elements I want to bring in, characters that maybe you wouldn't expect on JLA or characters we have had on JLA in the past.

"The roster to me is like, I'm not going screw with it every month and bring Blue Beetle in just to mess around with it, but there are changes I think that are worthwhile."

During a recent convention appearance, Kelly said he's excited about the opportunity to follow Mark Waid on JLA.

"You can take these guys and really mess around with them in self-contained stories that don't have to directly impact on everybody else's book," Kelly said.
