Brandon Routh has shared another new photo via his Instagram account, this one showing he and Tyler Hoechlin together, both wearing their Superman costumes for The CW’s upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.
Routh wrote: #DoubleVision—the new #Superman ability! ?? Grateful to share the #Arrowverse as #Superman for a short time with the charming & gracious @tylerhoechlin! I never really thought I’d get to meet #Superman in person… Gotta say, it’s all it’s cracked up to be!
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” will begin with Part 1 – “Supergirl” on Sunday, December 8 at 8.00pm ET/PT, Part 2 – “Batwoman” on Monday, December 9 at 8.00pm ET/PT, Part 3 – “The Flash” on Tuesday, December 10 at 8.00pm ET/PT, Part 4 – “Arrow” on Tuesday, January 14 at 8.00pm ET/PT and Part 5 – “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” on Tuesday, January 14 at 9.00pm ET/PT
dunno about you guys, but i am totally eating all of this up! so cool!
This is fantastic! Both of them are great as Superman. Now let’s hope that CW doesn’t waste them by having them barely onscreen OR making someone belittle them. I’m really hoping for the best this time.
Yeah I would like to think that they wouldn’t go through the trouble of getting all these Supermen ..well Superman, KC Superman and FarmLad just to fall into the trap of aggressively downplaying them and undercutting them to make the others look good. But we’ll see..
In any case great seeing these two together.
Lol FarmLad
YES!!!!!!!
What a great picture!!!!
Give me more Superman CW!!!!!
This picture makes me smile!
Now #CapeforWelling!!
Rouths suit looks great. Still not a fan of the shoulder straps on Tylers. Who approved those??? So which will be the last Superman standing? There seems to be a genuinely positive reaction to all the supermen coming back. I wonder if WB will take notice. Sadly I don’t think they will. They should definitely take something away from this though. I really didn’t care for SR all that much, but I never blamed Brandon and I’m actually happy he’s getting a second chance as a different version of Superman… I’ve never blamed the actors for What the writers and… Read more »
A million times yes. I’m hoping we get a show as well. Im loving all this but i will say i like more local superman stories. And I mean local as in metropolis stories with crime bosses were clark researches with lois and superman swoops inn and saves the day. I hate all this Universe crap that’s been going on for decades. It’s just to big for me to get emotionally involved….but i do love all these supermen it’s bringing out/back!!!!
I’ve been beating this drum for awhile too! Any Superman film going forward… (I was hoping it would be a MOS2 but unlikely now) would be a lower stakes film that’s more character driven with a more personal story… no world ending events. I always thought Conduit done properly would be a great villain and take some elements from the ‘death of Clark kent’ storyline from the 90s. Id also love to see more journalism with both Lois and Clark investigating… back when Aaron Sorkin was toying with the idea of writing a superhero film, I couldn’t help but let… Read more »
I think that’s one area where having a proper Superman tv show would be great because you could have a balance between “local” stories and Superman stopping world ending events. With anywhere between 13 to 26 episode seasons to play with it wouldn’t necessarily have to be either/or.
“So which will be the last Superman standing?” My fingers are crossing.
Please let it be Routh!
Please let it be Routh!
Please let it be Routh!
Please let it be Routh!
My last comment was about Routh’s and Hoechlin’s Superman only. I don’t think that there’s any reason to worry about whether or not Welling’s version will survive. This is just my opinion but I think that the two Supermen in question of surviving is Brandon’s and Tyler’s version. That’s why I’m hoping that between the two, Brandon would be the one left standing.( Again no offense Tyler.)
Well I hope none of them die actually haha but I do think they’re going to reverse the Superman/supergirl roles from the original story… sadly
I hope none of the Supermen perish as well sundevil82. Unfortunately I do think at least one won’t survive. I hope I’m wrong though.
It somewhat pains me to read that people didn’t like or hated SR. SR was full of what I would call that “human element” that some people claimed was missing in Zack’s version(s). I think that was the entire structure behind SR. The object was to reintroduce the character on a certain level in steps, without making SR so over whelming that the two planned sequels would have been chasing their tales. The bashing of it was over the top from people that wanted to see two hours of what ever version they wanted to see and totally ignored the… Read more »
I agree redcape. It was a movie that I enjoyed watching. Still do. True there are some things that didn’t work, but I still believe that the movie was successful enough to have earned a few sequels.
I agree but as it was said, if it had made that additional $100mill we probably would have gotten the planned sequels.
Make no mistake… I didn’t hate SR… I just find it to be rather bland for a Superman movie and that’s not on routh at all. I think had they started from scratch and not hitched their wagon to the Reeve films, he would have made an excellent Superman. They just had him basically mimicking reeve in SR and didn’t let Brandon’s natural charisma seep into the character. Plus the suit was awful, Lois was awful, I wasn’t crazy about the aesthetic I didn’t like all of the throwbacks and borrowed elements of the reeve films and I didn’t like… Read more »
I just have to say that I love that they’re just unapologetically leaning into the Superman stuff here. Again I think the fans response to this should really open up the eyes of WB… Ive always felt that a lot of writers who go in with the idea that they need to apologize for Superman or that he isn’t cool enough or is boring a boring character are just going in with the defeatist attitude and the final products usually show that. Here it looks like we’re getting unabashed versions of Superman and I love it. Whether or not it’s… Read more »
“Let your Superman flag fly… don’t ever apologize for who he is.”
Yes sundevil82!
Where’s a microphone? I need one.
(Announcing it to the world) Hi I’m Superman2878. I’m a Superman fan and I’m proud of it.
Thank you.
Plays the Superman anthem which is the John Williams Superman theme.
I love this. So much. But I seriously question the costume people here.
I’m probably gonna get heat for this but here goes…
Brandon’s muscle suit is so obvious. It’s a shame they used one at all, considering how good he looked on his IG post, but whatever, that’s fine. But the muscle suit looks too square, like it belongs under the batsuit. They should have rounded it out to look like real muscle. Then the Sups shield is digging into the corners of the chest making it look like a Halloween costume. 🙁 But otherwise, LOVE!!!
His suit maybe “toned” in certain areas but I don’t think it’s overly done. Formed areas in these suits seem to show more when the colors are bright. Tyler’s suit in color comparison is very dark. As different as the two suits are not only in color but what they’re supposed to represent I’m not sure if Brandon’s look compared to a Halloween costume is a valid comparison. However I myself never cared much for the red and black look. But,… for what they’ve done here I don’t find it to be as unlikable as I thought it would be.
I wonder what the Daily Planet is supposed to be a subsidiary of? CatCo?
I’m just throwing this idea out there, but is it possible that if the crossover event does really really well, could it be enough to convince WB or CW or whatever tv network to give us a Superman movie series or television series staring Brandon Routh as Superman? I’m just curious to hear from other members about this idea.
I hope it does.
No I don’t think so. Until this putrid era of women only starts to wind down all we’re going to continue to get is more female battle axe types that do nothing more than kick men’s back sides. CW has more of that tripe on the way as well as the WB/DC in the movies. And of course Marvels on board with their exaggerated female warriors as well. It’s the same theme through out the entire entertainment industry.
I’m all for inclusion, but I hate obvious pandering. WB shows are the worst at that. It comes off as awkward and unnatural. Batwoman reeks of it. An example of equality done perfectly was Wonder Woman. I saw her as a hero before I saw her as anything else and that should be the goal… not to prove how much better you are, but that you deserve to stand on equal footing. WB panders to more than just woman too. I’ve seen them awkwardly tackle race and sexuality. I’m Latino and I remember when they made some awkward unnatural allusion… Read more »
I so can’t wait to see this!
Welcome back, Brandon!
It’s so great to see that the reds in his suit are actually red this time.
