New “Krypton” Trailer – “Greatest Hero in the Universe”

With today’s earlier release of our first look at Brainiac, Syfy has released a new full trailer for the “Krypton” TV series, this one declaring Superman as the “Greatest Hero in the Universe”.

What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position. He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

The TV series is inspired by classic comic book stories including “All-Star Superman,” “Superman: The Animated Series,” and “Superman: Secret Origins”.

“Krypton” is produced by Warner Horizon Television. The pilot is written by David Goyer (Man of Steel) with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Goyer also acts as executive produce through his company Phantom Four with Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow), who serves as showrunner. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) directed the pilot.

The cast includes: Cameron Cuffe (The Halcyon) as Seg-El, Georgina Campbell (After Hours) as Lyta Zod, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) as Val-El, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Daron Vex, Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman) as Primus Alura Zod, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nyssa Vex and Aaron Pierre (Britannia) as Dev-Em.

“Krypton” premieres on TV at 10.00pm on March 21 on Syfy.

“Greatest hero in the universe.”

..and where’s his show WB?

Also why does Adam Strange look like young Ron Howard escaped from a Gap Outlet?

Yeah , I agree. I wish that they’d stop tip toeing around Superman and give him a show already. The man of steel will be turning 80 soon. Why not give him a show to celebrate this big number?

I zoomed in on the cape and I noticed that it looks to be of the classic design. That’s pretty cool.

Look forward to watching some great science fiction in Krypton. Production value looks great. Clearly, the show has the potential to enrich Superman’s mythology. Brainiac definitely looks and sounds scary like he should. Just wish WB had greenlighted a MOS sequel featuring Brainiac as the villain. The opportunity is still there to do so!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it does lead brainiac to be in a sequel at some point. Maybe they’re planning on showing brainiac’s origin before he his shown in the sequel.

I was thinking since Adam Strange will be in the series, perhaps at some point in the series brainiac will use Adam’s technology to travel to the future where the sequel of man of steel takes place. It’s just a theory.

I’m so very surprised by this series. We all (understandably) groaned collectively when it was announced and now this one trailer looks better than the whole of Gotham. It may have something to do with the fact that this looks like it’ll be expanding upon the sci-fi roots of Superman, whereas Gotham started out trying to squeeze some views by abusing Batman’s rogues gallery.

In any case, I’ll give it a shot. Goyer should arguably not be allowed to pen scripts, but he has a good handle on mythology and ideas.

I’m groaning only slightly less now. Probably because the Metropolis idea is so much worse. I’m tired of WB’s ducking and dodging of Superman via prequels and just of prequelitis in general. Also I just think of Krypton as more of a mini-series idea rather than something that can sustain an ongoing. Krypton is cool and all but it’s still backstory to the thing I actually care about. I’m also still not sure about the whole Terminator/Back To The Future idea at play here. But the trailers have at least been interesting (bad music aside). I haven’t yet decided if… Read more »

I’m interested, but I don’t have the time right now. I know it says it starts in march, but I think I will only be able to look at it in the summer.
