New “Justice League” Image Shows Cavill’s Mustache

Another image has been posted online via Reddit showing us Henry Cavill with mustache as Superman.

As everyone knows by now, Henry Cavill was in the midst of filming “Mission Impossible: Fallout” for Paramount Studios, in which his character sported a fairly prominent mustache. The problem was, Henry was also being asked to film reshoots as Superman for the “Justice League” movie for Warner Bros. Cavill was expected to be able to finish shooting the sixth “Mission Impossible” film before needing to don Superman’s spandex again. That didn’t happen, which required Henry to jump back and forth from each production. Paramount would not allow Cavill to shave the facial hair while production was taking place, which meant the mustache he grew for his character in the “Mission Impossible” sequel had to be digitally removed in post-production… and it didn’t look good.

Now we have a second photo showing us what that looked like. As you can see, Cavill not only has the mustache, but he also appears to be mostly unshaven. A previous image appeared online back in April.

Tired of “the mustache thing”… Ill guess if they re-cast Cavil this will go away.

Yeh, I don’t see Henry getting to don the cape again. I’m ok with that. I thought he was great casting but it’s been a missed opportunity in my opinion. I also don’t see them working on a Superman movie anytime soon either. Not in the next 6 years. I see another 6 years of Batman-related movies. Which is fine I suppose. I don’t see us ever getting a proper series of modern day Superman films. I don’t mean to be a Negative Nigel. Just a Realistic Roger.

If they hadn’t have had that botched opening scene with him talking to the kid with his cell phone none of this would have taken on the amount of attention that it did. It was just another very unfortunate dig against the entire movie.

I know what you mean but it was really noticeable throughout the whole film to be honest. Imagine they had went with the whole long hair, beard and black recovery suit thingy. It would have saved them a lot of trouble. And memes.

It was a hot mess, the mustache thing is only one aspect of the mess.

This is true. This Superman “trilogy”, if you like, started off very shaky indeed and only got worse.

Again, I just don’t understand why they didn’t go with bearded Superman.

Fallout was fantastic and Henry was fantastic in it. I will always be disappointed that WB didn’t capitalize on the Mcquarie/caviill re-team up

Well, just IMO a beard or long hair doesn’t work well with the regular costume. Also he’s not really bearded so much as he’s got a full grown mustache with stubble. So I don’t think that works as a sort of “I’ve been gone awhile” look either.

If they had left it then the meme would probably be “pornstache of steel!” or something like that.

I would have been cool with him being in the black suit the whole movie. Ideally I’d always prefer a clean shaven Superman, but I did enjoy the bearded look and black suit in that Jurgens ‘Lois and Clark’ book. I just think working around it with a beard would be a lot easier than wasting a bunch of money on sub par cgi. I just don’t understand how we’re at a n age where we can de-age actors and they couldn’t do a better job with that mustache.

For all the calamity that happened during the initial and re-shoots making of the JL, I still thought it turned out fairly watchable. Aside from what we’re talking about here, it didn’t have “many” questionable scenes that came across particularly stupid. Although the way that they left Clark’s return was totally ignored and could be classified as unfinished and yes, fit in the stupid category. I more so resented them taking Snyder’s entire direction out of the finished story line and divorced it from the previous two making the JL a one and done resulting in any further direction of… Read more »

Yeah it’s fine. For me it’s on par with an episode of the old JL cartoon… not mind blowing but enjoyable for what it was.

The picture above with the mustache is not real but fan made.

So if I’m understanding this correctly, it’s a deepfake mustache over the cgi altered clean shave that covered up the real mustache on Henry’s face?
