NBC Cancels “Powerless” After One Season

NBC has decided not to renew the TV series “Powerless” for a second season. The show will be cancelled at the end of its first season.

“Powerless”, a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America… which exists within the DC Universe, premiered in the USA on Thursday, February 2, and has a few episodes still to air to conclude its 13 episode run.

The show was the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens (“Grease Live,” “High School Musical”) plays Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right … even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.

With all due respect, did you just copy and paste the show description from an outdated source? The original concept was for Emily to work at an insurance company; but that was changed after the pilot and she was instead the head of R&D at Wayne Security.

That show seemingly got harder to watch as the weeks went by. The value of the show lapsed into nonsense almost increasing every episode. The show had no point and as far as I’m concerned had no Superhero ties and turned into buffoon-ness. Especially the last 3 or so.

If there is no one who can bring some sanity into the story – someone who can point and say, “What’s wrong with these people? Maybe I can fix this,” then all you have stupid unfunny dialogue. And comedies are supposed to be funny!!! In the case of a comic book related show, this also usually happens when the production staff has NO idea what modern comics are like. I really… Read more »

Enjoyed every episode so far. Smart. Funny. Edgy. Epic opening credits. Hudgens is insanely hot. Ron Fuches is hilarious in it. Too bad it’s going away.

I actually enjoyed this show. I’m sorry that it’s being cancelled. It made me laugh, and I liked Hudgens and Tudyk in it. It’s a show I really think would have hit it’s stride in the second season.
