Kara and Lesla go off to get some training exercises done, leaving Lena in charge of the Superpets (Krypto, Streaky, Tinytano and Kandy). This, of course, does not end well, as the pets all zip off outside to do their own things.

Kandy is convinced she and Krypto are still enemies, and that she must beat him to make Lesla happy. While she goes around using her heat vision, Krypto saves the citizens of Midvale from her mania. Krypto then attempts to play with Kandy by carrying her by her cape, which makes her sleepy, when all of a sudden, Princess Shark (from Issue #1) attacks once more, searching for Supergirl. Not finding her but recognizing Krypto, she fights him, demanding the Girl of Steel’s location. When Krypto fights back, Princess Shark sends Beego, her giant shark, to defend her, and Kandy thus defends Krypto, leading to a battle between the four combatants (with Kandy reluctantly teaming with Krypto, since she’s not sure if she’s supposed to, though she’s growing to like it). After Krypto saves Kandy and the two use their heat vision at the same time, driving Princess Shark away, Kandy concludes that she does like Krypto after all.

After some fun times together and more super heroics, the two new friends return to Kara and Lesla when they call them, only for everyone to realize Tinytano is still gone: Thus, begins his and Streaky’s part of the tale:

While Tinytano enjoys riding Streaky’s back, annoying the cat, the two hear meows, and find a bunch of superkitties attacking some of the Kandorian substance Lesla had used last issue. They’re all getting weird powers, so Streaky decides to deal with them, mostly because it would please Kara. But he soon gives up, annoying by Tinytano. Tinytano, who longs to be a superpet, tries to do it on his own, but struggles. Streaky finally chooses to help him again, and with a lot of tuna, they get the kittens to vomit the powers out. Getting them a new home, Streaky finally accepts Tinytano, and Supergirl, Lesla and Lena catch up to them.

And then Supergirl faints.

To Be Continued…

5Story – 5: Is this a silly, fluffy, filler issue with pretty much nothing to it but “cute super pets”? Yes. Will this advance the arcs of this run? Not at all. Will ANY of this come into effect? Maybe a smidge.

Was it excellent? Absolutely.

Issues like this make a run feel ALIVE, lived in. This is a big part of why “World’s Finest” has worked so well, it’s the ability to show more than one arc every half a year. Here we get a peek into the mind of each super pet, and they’re all extremely lovable (especially Kandy, honestly, may she feature in more stories). It’s really nothing that complicated, it could all happen in a little children’s book.

But guess what? They read these too, and I’m happy there are kids out there getting to enjoy this issue.

3Art – 3: I will admit, my one critique is the art, especially in the second half. It’s not as lush and enjoyable as Campbell’s. I did really like how Krypto and Kandy get drawn, but the rest? Not incredible. Still decent, though.

3Cover Art – 3: Fun cover, though not as good as others in this run.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: So, like, Stanley has a favorite Superhero, right? Hey, I don’t blame him.

3Variant Cover Art – 3: Nice, cartoony cover of Streaky.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: Perfect, another to hang on my wall.

4Variant Cover Art – 4: Love the halloween feeling and the different kind of colors used for this one. On a second note, I’m suddenly thirsty for pumpkin spice.

3Variant Cover Art – 3: Not bad, but I expect more from Dan Mora.
