Lena and Luna are going over to Kara’s to try and apologise for Lena’s big screwup at the New Years party from last issue, but Kara’s not him: She’s on a date with the hot goth boy she’s been into for a while, whom she kissed at said party. Kara doesn’t know why, but she feels ridiculously attracted to him, to the point that she acts out of character.

Lena and Luna meanwhile believe it might be over for them with Kara, as they believe relationships often break friendships. Except they’re not gonna let that stand: they decide to spy on the date and find an opportunity for Lena to apologise.

It turns out spying was a good idea: the hot goth guy knows Kara from their past at the orphanage, knows she’s Supergirl, and worst of all, has Pink Kryptonite on his earring, which is why Kara is falling so quickly in love.

Lena confronts them, trying to help Kara (who’s too lovesick to think straight). Managing to grab the Pink Kryptonite, she tosses it to Luna, who is shocked by the person appearing from the earring: Nela-Nar, a spirit from Krypton, who wants to make others fall in love so she can live through them, having lost her lover. While Supergirl fights her (thanks to an Anti-Kryptonite suit made by Lena), Lena and Luna attempt to combine their science skills and newly acquired astral powers respectively to stop the villain. Eventually, they contain her in some Super Substance together, and place her in The Vault (an interdimensional rift Lena has).

After a quick alibi to get rid of Goth Guy (thanks to Luna’s astral projection powers), Kara and Lena have a hard talk, in which Kara admits that she’s still mad, but also wants to fix things, but just doesn’t know when.

And that’s when Superboy (Connor Kent) appears, informing our heroes of Kandor’s strife…

To Be Continued…

3Story – 3: It’s not the best issue this run has had, as it’s a little all over the place. The goth guy feels like a muted story point, really only there to tease a fake romance and give us another obscure reference, while Kara does feel rather weirdly unforgiving. It’s not a bad issue by any stretch, as I really like how Lena’s guilt is handled (rather than having her also pissed) and it’s got good pacing, just not anything that special this time around. Still, even the best runs have duds!

2Art – 2: Not feeling Quinones in this title. Faces are always off, and everyone looks way older than they should.
