Now.

Brainiac has taken control of Hank Henshaw, the Cyborg Superman. They have Manhunters with them. Brainiac was promised the Justice League’s heads if he delivers Lobo to someone. Meanwhile, Mongul is fighting John Stewart and Wonder Woman. His original goal was to plunder Apokolips. Plus, an army of genetically engineered soldiers remains in stasis awaiting an objective. One fact remains unknown, however, who revealed Lobo’s location to those searching to kill him?

Then.

Martian Manhunter is dead, and Amazons are dying on the battlefield on Apokolips. Batman and Superman are fighting among themselves. Wonder Woman is the voice of reason, telling them to grieve tomorrow. They are needed today. There is a ray of hope when she stands with the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel against Steppenwolf. Yet, that may be lost as Hal Jordan stands alone on Oa against Darkseid. He wants the main power battery’s energy for himself. He takes it with a price. A green mushroom cloud engulfs Oa.

5Story – 5: Okay, we’re getting more nuggets and plot threads in this issue. It’s being paced for the trade and hardcover market, but that’s okay in this case. We have a mystery on our hands. Who revealed Lobo was on Apokolips? I have some theories, but I will wait to see if they pan out in this series’ conclusion. In the meantime, I highly recommend this book, but I’m a sucker for anything starring Darkseid.

5Art – 5: The art has improved since the last two issues and is pretty solid this time around.

5Cover Art – 5: Superman’s S shield is slightly too small, but Robertson seems to be channeling Curt Swan with this cover.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: I haven’t had a chance to see Ruan’s other art, but I think what he did on this variant is brilliantly drawn. We need him on more Justice League projects.
