Because nobody else could get to it in time, Martian Manhunter had destroyed the power source of Darkseid’s Boom Nukes located in the core of Apokolips. The fires within kill him, leaving Batman to blame himself for his comrade’s demise. Now, the planet formerly ruled by Darkseid is a lifeless husk that serves as Lobo’s prison. Many alien races are coming for the Last Czarnian’s head even if he claims the being who hired him had killed the New Gods. To make matters more complicated, Mongul and the Cyborg Superman have arrived on Apokolips to challenge the Justice League.

5Story – 5: It’s a bit bumpy in places, but this issue is slightly better than the previous issue. The flashback I had hoped for finally shows up. I did want a bit more, but we can’t have everything, especially considering this is an eight issue series. Things need to be spaced out a bit. Yet, overall, this chapter was a fun comic to read.

4Art – 4: This issue’s art suffers from the same flaws as the previous one. It’s still good. It just needs some improvements.

4Cover Art – 4: It’s well drawn. It’s good Robertson art, but isn’t his best work. There’s something strangely not right visually about this cover.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: This variant captures J’onn perfectly. DC really needs more artists like Tiago Da Silva.
