Before…

The Justice League must prevent Darkseid’s Boom Nukes from destroying Earth. Evacuation efforts are difficult. Wonder Woman and the Amazons are on Apokolips fighting Granny Goodness and her Female Furies while Batman and Martian Manhunter attempt to disarm the bombs. Hal Jordan and Superman are tracking Darkseid. He arrives on Oa while Green Lantern and the Man of Steel battle parademons.

Now…

In order to avoid detection, Batman is flying the league’s ship near a black hole. Superman, Hal Jordan and John Stewart rescue an alien vessel. The grateful extraterrestrials thank the heroes and go along their way. Now, the Justice League is approaching Apokolips. The polluted gases in its atmosphere can hide them and Lobo from any detection. However, is Batman’s plan going to work, or will the Last Czarnian’s enemies find him?

5Story – 5: The flashback does end slightly abruptly, but that’s more due to the fact the overall arc is spread out in eight issues. If we readers are given too much at once, we may not want to come back for more. Pacing is everything in a story like this. Think of it as a serialized television series, as I do with “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” and you may enjoy this book as much as I did. This is an adventure that works so well in the Justice League’s mission archive on so many levels.

5Art – 5: The art in this issue has surpassed the quality of the first chapter. Miguel Mendonca really should be assigned to a monthly Fourth World title or the current “Justice League” series.

5Cover Art – 5: This seems more like Roberson’s style, unlike the previous issue’s cover. Yet, both showcase great artwork and imagery.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: I’m not familiar with this artist’s other work. However, I love this variant. I hope to see more images from Inhyuk Lee.
