Wonder Woman’s mother Queen Hippolyta arrives at the Hall of Justice pondering her place in the world when The Flash realizes he made a mistake in his dimensional calculations. Meanwhile, the separated Justice League have found each other on Naomi’s birth world. Hippolyta and The Flash arrive in time to help them and possibly bring them back home. Unfortunately, the new nemesis of Zumbado has entered the fray, and he seems to know Naomi McDuffie very well.
A “Justice League Dark” bonus story closes this issue.
Story – 5: Bendis is still using parenthetical expressions in his comics. For some reason, I find them irritating in the sequential image storytelling format. That’s just a personal preference of mine. It doesn’t really hurt the story’s rating. It’s a great chapter in itself. However, if he had used them in more than one page I would have knocked off a point or two.
Bendis has made a career of putting unlikely characters in his team books. Black Adam in this title is much like Wolverine in “New Avengers”. Yet, he works in the team dynamic for this serial. I hope Adam does stay with the League after Bendis is no longer writing the book.
Art – 5: In spite of a very slight overuse of two page spreads, the art is darn incredible. Marquez should be working more in my opinion.
Cover Art – 4: This one seems inspired by the Fantastic Four. Perhaps it’s telling us readers the future of the Justice League.
Variant Cover Art – 4: Noses look a bit off in this variant for some reason, but it’s still a good Howard Porter image.
