Brutus, a being from the same Earth as Naomi McDuffie, has attacked Themyscira. He was unprepared for the Amazons, but he intends to return. Superman has made a controversial choice. After seeing how Black Adam has been saving countless of lives recently, he lobbies for the immortal ruler of Kahndaq to become a member of the Justice League. The Flash has built a modified model of his cosmic treadmill so the rest of the League, Adam and Naomi can to travel to the latter’s world. That same world was the victim of a super-powered war, and Naomi finds herself there in a desolate area with the rest of the Justice League nowhere to be found.

Ram V. and Xermanico collaborated on a Justice League Dark bonus story in this issue.

5Story – 5: I stated that Bendis excels in team dynamics. He’s showing this even now. Black Adam’s arc in the serial mirrors Wolverine’s in “New Avengers” in the sense that both were controversial choices to join the team. However, Someone lobbied for them to join. In Adam’s case it’s Superman, and Iron Man went to bat for Wolverine. It may seem unconventional. Yet, Bendis makes it work. This combined with the fact that this arc has been a fast and entertaining one so far make this a real winner for me.

5Art – 5: The art is better than it was in the previous issue Perhaps Marquez has become more comfortable drawing the title at this point in the series.

5Cover Art – 5: See my thoughts on interior art. They also apply to this cover.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: I’m not familiar with the variant artist, but I do like the style of the image.
