This picks up after the most recent maxi-series “Adventures of the Super Sons”. Damian and Jonathan are working in the school library. Jonathan is writing an expose on a school cheating ring that he is hoping to end. While he is writing, Damian reveals he already solved the case and sent the evidence to the Headmaster. The two argue and leave to patrol Metropolis. On patrol they help a lady with her groceries and that is it. Damian begins complaining about how bored he is. While they are, again arguing, a mysterious cloaked woman approaches them and quickly releases a large energy burst.
Story – 5: Buy this comic! I cannot recommend it enough. Not a lot happened in the story, most of it was re-introducing us to Tomasi’s versions of these characters. But it worked so well. It was a fun, exciting adventure. Tomasi includes so many little character moments that just sell who these two kids are. For example, they are leaving the school the boys are approached by a teacher. Jonathan is happily greeted by the teacher, whereas it is evident that Damian is a pain in the butt. The two boys have such a fun bickering dynamic that really reflects how some kids’ friendships are. Support this book, and maybe they will permanently bring back the younger Jonathan.
Art – 5: The art by Max Raynor is clean, bright, and energetic. Everything that this comic needs it to be. I hope that Raynor stays on for this entire run because it works so well for these two characters.
