Bizarro world is imploding, fast, and our heroes have no time to lose. With the core expanding, the square world will be gone like it never existed. Superman and Bizarro #1 head out to save the people of the planet, while Robin, after chewing on some Bizarro bubble gum, gets an idea: what if they expand the planet to match the new expanded core? Superman and Bizarro #1 head out to get Bizarro Brainiac’s enlarging ray while Batman, Batzarro and Robin find Bizarro Bibbo (Bibb-zarro), who can help them devise a cure for the disease. By asking him to replicate it, he made a cure.
Meanwhile, Superman enlarges the planet and Bizarro #1 tries to keep the core in check, since it just might explode before they’re done. Robin then asks Batzarro why would he let himself be cured once they spread it from his plane, and he explains that he was happy. Once Superman is done enlarging the planet, he joins Bizarro #1 in keeping the core in check. They struggle until Bizarro Krypto joins them and they finally stop the expansion. With the cure spread too, Bizarro World is back to the way it was.
The End… For Now…
Story – 4: While not the most exciting finale compared to the rest of the story, this was another fine issue in what turned out to be quite the fun arc! I really appreciate Waid’s approach to Bizarro World, a different culture rather than a joke. I also appreciate all the little fun ideas and touches, like Bizarro Bibbo and Bizarro Krypto, not to mention the tiny character moments that dominate his writing (like Batzarro being happy, which says so much). It was a standout arc for this book, easily one of my favorites, and I look forward to another silly Supergirl and Robin date before our next big arc, which I wonder what it could be. Maybe a Green Lantern story, to tie in with Lanterns?
Art – 5: Bizarro World have never looked better, in my opinion. Everything feels so alive and insane in this one.
Cover Art – 2: Really hate a cover where the story isn’t actually represented, nice art aside.
Variant Cover Art – 2: Fine, average cover.
Variant Cover Art – 4: Quite a nice Bizarro cover! Should have been the main cover, honestly.
Variant Cover Art – 3: Fun, Frankenstein vibes.
Variant Cover Art – 3: Superman looks great. Batman less so.
