Mehcad Brooks Leaving “Supergirl” During Season 5

Mehcad Brooks has announced that he’ll be leaving “Supergirl” mid-way through the upcoming fifth season of The CW TV series.

According to EW.com, Mehcad Brooks, who has played James Olsen since the pilot episode of “Supergirl”, will depart the series ahead of the mid-season finale.

“We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future,” said showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller in a statement. “He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.”

This comes on the back of the news that Jeremy Jordan will be returning to the role of Winn Schott for three episodes, while Andrea Brooks, who plays the role of Eve Teschmacher, has been promoted to a series regular.

The 5th season of “Supergirl” will premiere on Sunday, October 6 at 9.00pm.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is secretly tired of working in an environment filled with PC and SJW elements. I’d imagine in that kind of atmosphere it would be like walking on eggshells all time, which would be uncomfortable if you’re always trying to be careful of what “not to say.”

I wonder if he’s going to be in the crisis crossover event?

@Superman2878 – That’s a good question. I’d imagine he probably won’t because of how crowded the storyline will be with the other characters. If he does happen to be in the crisis crossover event, he’d probably have a very short scene.

True. I do wonder how he would react in seeing two Clarks though.

I think it’s time. They haven’t had much for Jimmy to do. To be honest, once Mon-El came in during Season 2, that was kind of the end for the character. That being said, Brooks has done a lot with what he’s given. It’s nice to know the door is open for him to return.
