Mark Waid and Dan Mora Team-Up for “Batman/Superman: World’s Finest”

Batman/Superman: World's Finest

DC Comics has revealed that the much-anticipated Superman and Batman comic book series by Mark Waid and Dan Mora will be titled “Batman/Superman: World’s Finest” with issue #1 arriving March 15, 2022.

The book will feature variant covers by Mora, Jim Lee, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Jason Fabok, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Lee Weeks, and twin “slap” covers from Chip Zdarsky.

The Dark Knight. The Man of Steel. They are the two finest superheroes that the world has ever known…and they’re together again in an epic new series from the legendary talents of Mark Waid and Dan Mora!

In the not-too-distant past, Superman’s powers are super-charged from a devastating chemical attack by the villain Metallo … and the only ally that the ultra-powerful Man of Tomorrow can turn to in this turbulent hour is Gotham’s own dark vengeance: the Batman. A nearly fatal burst of power drives Bruce Wayne to his own extreme measures to help his friend … enlisting none other than the Doom Patrol for aid.

It’s the world’s greatest superheroes from the world’s greatest comic book talent in an epic comic book experience that kicks off the next big events in the DCU. Get ready, it’s time to soar.

I remember those Seinfeld Superman comercials years ago. That would be a fun full series to watch.

Looking forward to this. Does anyone know if it’s an ongoing series or a miniseries?

I would love for the title to be Superman & Batman, but those days are gone.

Hopefully this will showcase Superman & Batman as being “best friends” who work together well (something Frank Miller should take note of). If such a good team-up happens, I’ll gladly read these.

I hope DC does a world’s finest title with Superman 78 and Batman 89. Those two versions of Superman and Batman teaming up for a comic run would definitely be a huge hit I believe.

I like Dan Mora’s art and that it’s set “In the not-too-distant past” if that is a way of saying we’ll be seeing the characters in classic forms or at the very least pre-Bendis.

I really wish that they would bring back Superman’s secret identity. I mean Clark had just gotten it back before Bendis threw it away again. :-/

..and gave the storyline the exact same title like nobody would notice. I think they even re-used the logo.

They could just have the secret identity restored in page 1, panel 1 and of a new issue I would be fine with it. No in-story explanation needed. Crisis, Hypertime, Ambush Bug gets the Infinity Gauntlet, I don’t care! Just make it done.

Or continue the Superman 78 comic as a continuing series. I’d love to see my favorite version of Superman have his own continuing series. 🙂
