I wonder if he’ll explain how Lex found out that Clark and Superman are the same person.

It wasn’t good then, it’s not gonna be good now.

His JL cut will be the same. Just because WB’s JL was bad doesn’t retroactively make Snyders stuff good. The fact his stuff wasn’t working was the reason why they felt compelled to rework JL in the first place.

WB screwed the whole thing up from top to bottom.

Agreed. I do enjoy the Extended cut more, but I never go back and rewatch it. They clearly had some sort of issue with Snyder as far back as Man of Steel. I don’t blame anyone else but Wb for not reigning him in at that point. They forced him to add Batman but everything else was full on Snyder/Goyer. I think the dialogue was only slightly improved by Terrio, but they clearly only did it for Bruce Wayne and Possibly Lex? It was as though they were burdened by having Superman in the movie at all and just treated… Read more »

Sorry you didn’t like it “that much”. But after the box office take from SR this was part of the big re-boot they decided on. I for one liked Zack’s take and yes, there were some scenes that should have been reworked but over all they were well made. Did I want that direct sequel to MoS,…yes I did. What I was more silent over was Superman dying at the end. Wasn’t prepared for that so soon. My reason for wanting his JL cut is exactly the opposite of yours. I liked what he did. I’m not sure if they… Read more »

I do agree with you that bringing whedon on was a mistake. Although I didn’t necessarily agree with the direction Zack took, his JL would have at least contained some consistency.

You would have gotten a complete vision sure, but it still would have been Snyder’s vision which was the source of the problem to begin with. WB made a bad choice then compounded the problem by trying to rush a course correction through. It’s a sad and sorry fate for Superman and the Justice League all because WB thought “yeah, let’s make it like DKR and Watchmen!” ..which to varying degrees over the years has been a problem DC themselves have had.

They still learn the wrong lessons from everything. I still say that Goyer was just as big of an issue as Snyder was as well.

Oh I’m not saying I enjoyed the direction Zack took at all, but whedon was a complete swing in the other direction and I’ve always found his avengers stuff to be cringe/cheese and the same cheesiness showed up in JL. The right move would have been to find a new director/writer combo for a proper man of stew sequel.

I still want Chris McQuarrie to get a chance to direct a superman film.
