DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation launch adorable canine companion spinoff ahead of Superman’s digital release
Just in time for the digital premiere of “Superman” this Friday, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation have unveiled something special for fans of the Man of Steel’s four-legged sidekick. “Krypto Saves the Day!” – a charming new animated short featuring everyone’s favorite Superdog – has officially launched on YouTube, marking the beginning of a four-part series that promises to bring heroic hijinks to everyday life in Metropolis.
Fresh off his scene-stealing appearance in James Gunn’s “Superman” movie, Krypto is ready for his close-up in this 5½-minute animated adventure. The first episode, subtitled “School Bus Scuffle,” showcases the caped canine’s brand of super-powered comedy as he attempts to save a school bus while simultaneously chasing a pigeon – because even superdogs have their priorities.
The timing couldn’t be better, as “Superman” becomes available digitally on Apple TV and Amazon Prime on August 15, followed by its physical 4K, Blu-ray and DVD release on September 23. “Krypto Saves the Day!” will be included as a special feature on both digital and physical releases, giving fans even more reason to add the film to their collection.
More Adventures on the Horizon
This adorable animated series isn’t a one-time treat. DC Studios has planned three additional episodes rolling out through 2026:
– Episode 2: “Halloween Havoc” – Perfect for spooky season shenanigans
– Episode 3: “Package Pandemonium” – Holiday delivery chaos, anyone?
– Episode 4: “Coastal Catastrophe” – Spring break meets super-powered rescues
According to the official description, no adventure is too small for Krypto, whether he’s handling “school bus rescues to Spring Break cruise ship saves – and even Halloween candy crises.” The series promises super-powered action, laughs, and plenty of mischief designed to entertain fans of all ages.
A Perfect Complement to the Superman Universe
Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have crafted these shorts to capture the comedic spirit that made Krypto such a beloved character in the “Superman” film. By focusing on everyday heroics in Metropolis, the series offers a lighter, more accessible entry point into the DC universe while maintaining the heart and humor that audiences connected with.
