Attending the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Sydney, Australia this weekend, Tyler Hoechlin spoke with Australia’s Daily Mail on Saturday during the Sydney Film Festival premiere of “Everybody Wants Some”, telling them about how he plans to approach playing the role of Superman in Season 2 of “Supergirl”.
As for whether he’ll be basing his version of the character on the performance of any previous actor to play the role, Hoechlin said, “I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.”
Interestingly, Tyler is more excited about playing Superman’s alter-ego Clark Kent.
“I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humour.”
On Friday, Tyler announced to his fans on Twitter that he would be playing Superman, Tweeting: “Could not be more honored & humbled to be given the opportunity to play this incredible & beloved character. Can’t wait to get to work!”
The CW debut of “Supergirl” will see Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman, with the Man of Steel set to appear in the first two episodes of the new season.
The Season 2 premiere of “Supergirl” will take place on Monday, October 10 at 8.00pm on The CW.
