Great to see the *REAL* Superman costume with the red trunks (Batman should have been in his real suit too, but since I’m a bigger Superman fan, I can forgive that since the proper Superman design was used 😉 ), but is the Superman actor wearing eyeliner???
Thanks Kel, I’m a huge fan of what we both refer to as, ‘the real Superman suit’. Reeve wore eyeliner when I’m the suit 🙂
I… appreciate the passion that went into this. Looks pretty, too.
Thank you Neo for being one of the few who understand that this was made with more passion than budget. Dignified responses of encouragement like this are validating, thank you.
This is beautifully shot, especially for a fan film, and there’s some interesting dialogue in there.
It’s not perfect of course, but easily one of the best fan films I’ve seen.
Congrats to all involved!
Thank you Kal, this type of feed back is so encouraging and heart warming.
This was great. This was more faithful to the characters than the Batman vs Superman movie. I would have rather have seen this (I would like a more traditional-looking/acting Joker) on the big screen that what we were given a few months back.
Really? Because I thought this version of Batman was ridiculous.
Oh, he needs some reworking a bit, but at the core I thought he was pretty good.
About as ridiculous as wanting to stab Superman to death with a spear because there’s a 1% chance he might be a not-so-great-guy, that is until he finds out his mom’s name is “Martha!”.
Affleck’s suit was better, at least…
Which is probably why there is “Parody” in the video description. Which, in turn, raises questions about our expectations of these characters.
Thank you for reading the discription. Very refreshing in 2016.
Thank you, it’s nice to read this message. We set out to shoot this with $6k as a parody with friends. Imagine what we could do with $200 million and the blue print of a seriously approached script. Thank you for getting what we are doing 🙂
Well that was pretty darn good !!
Thank you 🙂
While I like the guy playing Superman, I didn’t really care for this at all. With the exception of the Bartender(who looked like Keanu Reeves) I felt the acting to be rather stiff. Miscast Batman and Lois Lane. They tried to do a Christopher Reeve impression and it took me out of the story since his hair looked ridiculous. That being said….there is the beginnings of something here. I’m not big on Fan films with the exception of the Star Wars Fan films..Seriously..have you guys seen the one with Darth Maul taking out Jedi? wow. I wouldn’t mind seeing this… Read more »
I love that you critique this like a major motion picture wih the luxury of studio backing. Finger pointing dismissive critiques like yours, editor or not, always make me smile, as a group of friends coming together, we’ve cretaed something great.
I don’t like how Donneresque this is, or Superman’s misguided view of my generation. I appreciate the passion and love that obviously went into this! But I don’t know if I can honestly say I like it.
Also, the implication that Joker used to be Robin is very unsettling. Of all the Frank Miller ideas to take, why that one? 🙁
Thank you for appreciating our passion 🙂
Tone wise I can’t tell if this wants to be a parody or not. If not then having Bruce Wayne acting like a combination of Flash Thompson and trolling Batfan doesn’t make any sense (not to mention both men outing their identities to Lois as well as the bartender and whoever else might be there). Also not feeling punk-rock gym club Joker. However I do like the concept of Superman and Batman outfoxing the Joker based on an idea Superman has.
I agree. This is why I said there is the beginning of something here. I would very much like to see them make another one with this guy as Superman. Change his hair style and let him give his own take on the character. Recast Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane and try something a bit more serious. The guy has the look of Superman and when he is Superman he carries it very well. He was trying to hard to copy CR for his Clark. The Batman acting as a troll was completely out of character, unless it was a… Read more »
Steve, if the YT film reaches enough hits, I’d love to convince our SM actor to come back with a follow up without batman that might meet your standards. I hope this can happen, we’d like to get your thumbs up.
Of course..part of the fan made films is that they lack the big budget products, but the passion of making a film based on one of the world’s most recognisable icons is always okay in my book. Keep filming and never give up. From one hobby filmmaker to another.
Thank you, what a gentleman.
Wow, that was painful to watch. Besides it being so Donneresque, everyone was poorly miscast and the tone of the film itself was just so … it’s right up there with Batman & Robin. And if this guy REALLY wants to work for Warner/DC, don’t ever use the red trunks again, Warner/DC made the conscious decision to update and move away from that, the film maker should have also. I get the passion, but the story and dialogue for all characters was pretty bad, with the exception of the bartender. The director should have done something original instead of trying… Read more »
The Bartender and Superman were the only ones I really liked. The actor as Superman carries the character well. But, as I said up thread, Batman and Lois really hurt the movie. What was up with Batman’s voice?
I can never truly hate a fan film because they are labor of loves and done only for a fun. The director of this is talented. I would donate to this team on a crowd funding to give them a better budget and to give us a better story for another shot.
Thank you sir, why couldn’t this have been your first post? My heart is less broken now 🙂
Yeah…I realized I came off too harsh in my first review which is why I watched it again. I think what got me was that while on parts it was a parody in others it felt like a really cool story. I reacted in the negative the first time because I was looking at it from a more serious story potential if that makes sense. I’ll stick to my critique about not digging the batman though…lol..but if you do another one he has the look and feel of Harvey dent. You’ve got talent and I think a crowd funded second… Read more »
Always dumbfounded to how critics so easily rubbish others work with such passion and conviction. But thank you for mirroring my efforts to that of Snyder’s who’s was shoot for over $2,000,0000 and end credits of 10000’s of people in post and pre preproduction. If these are the only issues you have then I am happy considering this was a one man pre/post effort on $6k. Thank you for the insults and nice moments, all will be taken in to account and if we shoot a second one all your comments will be taken into account.
