Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that fans will soon have two options when it comes to watching the two-part DC UNIVERSE feature-length animated films, “The Death of Superman” and “Reign of the Supermen” TOGETHER!
As you know, Superman’s greatest adventure – his death and rebirth – will be unveiled in a special two-day exclusive theatrical event as Warner Bros. and DC join forces with Fathom Events for a double feature presentation of the previously released “The Death of Superman” and the first in-theater screening of the all-new “Reign of the Supermen” nationwide. The films will screen in more than 500 select movie theaters on Sunday, January 13 at 12:55pm and Monday, January 14 at 8:00pm (all local times) through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). Tickets for The Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen Double Feature can be purchased at Fandango.com and participating theater box offices.
And later this year, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the two movies as a single, full-length film with never-before-seen extended footage and a collectible item within the box set. Details will be released in the coming months.
Along with this announcement an all-new video clip featuring Steel (voiced by Cress Williams) and Jimmy Olsen (voiced by Max Mittleman) has been released, together with a few still images from the scene.
In 1993 a novel was published titled “The Death and Life of Superman” by author Roger Stern, which brought together the dramatic story of the Man of Steel’s death, the fates of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Ma and Pa Kent, the Justice League, and the reign of the four super-beings who mysteriously appeared after Superman’s funeral, each claiming to be the real Last Son of Krypton… to the incredible story of Superman’s triumphant return!
Soooo there’s going to be an extended edition to these films and making them into one long movie.
I so want to see this!
the writers went with damaging the bus and potentially injuring passengers instead of just grabbing Jimmy out of the way. Hmm
How was Steel fast enough to save Jimmy in time? I know that his suit would enhance his strength and armor would protect him as well as flight capability due to the rocket boosters he has, but does it give him super speed as well? That suit must weigh a ton.
Comic book and film logic do not apply to the natural laws of physics.
Ha ha ha. True.
The same way Batman can go through solid rock and still be alive or jump 15+ feet into the air. Or as Kal-Ed said: comic book and film logic.
And (fake)the same way they have all the women kicking the crap out of men everywhere.
Good point Redcape! I’m tired of the patronizing the women at the expense of humiliating men bit. I call it neo-sexism.
I’m definitely interested in this since there will be extended footage. I like the feeling of both films combined into 1 full-length, animated epic with more scenes. It will be a nice addition to my collection.
Had an amazing time watching both of these back to back in a theater. really wished that they had combined them for the movie going experience, but oh well! Good to go see a Superman movie on the big screen again!
Had they made this years ago, for me at least I would have been interested but they’ve already given us a notable Doomsday feature and yes, it skipped a ton of what the 20 or how ever many comic book cross overs there were but it was still good.
I’ve had it with death of Superman. I’m not reading or watching ANY more death angles with him. It’s already been done to (pun) death. It’s amazing they can’t give us a great Superman adventure but keep coming up with nonsense like communist Superman or more dead Superman.
What about an animated movie where Superman fights the villain known as the antihero? As far as I know this villain was in only one Superman issue, but I thought it was interesting. If I remember correctly, he was a villain who went from planet to planet looking to fight and kill the world’s greatest superheroes, and taking a piece of their uniform and add it to his own as a symbol of how many he’s defeated. I remember Superman breaking out of a trap and when the antihero asked how he did it, Superman replied “ I’m Superman. It’s… Read more »
Isn’t this Superman vs The Elite?
I’m not sure. Maybe?
That is Superman vs The Elite bro! What Sundevil said!

Was this Supervillian in Superman vs the elite? It’s been a while since I’ve seen that story, but this link shows the villain that I had mentioned.

Ok, so my previous post had a problem with the link. So here’s a better link to what I had mentioned before.
Thanks for providing that link Spidey2878. I believe it does make for a very interesting story!
You’re welcome Phresh. I was also thinking of the villain known as Massacre. Wasn’t he a big red giant like villain who could predict every move that his opponent would make? That would be an interesting thing to see. Superman against a super villain who can predict his every move.
Yes! I actually loved the Massacre villain idea. I always thought he was underrated.
And there’s also the villain Savior. A villain who wears a blood smeared black Superman suit and had a Superman logo scarred onto his fourhead. He was convinced that Superman didn’t return from the dead and that he’s an imposter. If I remember correctly, his powers were that he could give himself any superpower that he could think of. That’s another villain I’d like Superman to face off against. There’s also the godfall story where Superman was made to believe that he had another life on a Kryptonian city. There was a villain known as Preus( I’m pretty sure that… Read more »
I understand your frustration bro! Even though I loved BvS (I’m not ashamed to admit that), the death and Doomsday angle was not earned. However, if we are to tell Superman stories, I would love a Superman animated series, 10-12 episode seasons, that are well written and animated (like Young Justice), based on the Post Crisis era of Superman. An adaption that pays respect to what came before in the comics. Just imagine half season arcs based on Exile, Panic in the Sky, Time and Time Again etc… Yeah it would lead to Death of Superman again, but maybe in… Read more »
There was also the y2k story that had brainiac 13. That was an interesting story.
