In Jason Momoa’s appearance on the January 15 edition of the TODAY show, the “Aquaman” star revealed that landing the role of Lobo in the upcoming “Supergirl” film is actually a bigger deal for him than playing the King of Atlantis ever was.
“He’s amazing. It’s my ultimate dream to play Lobo. I wanted to play him more than Aquaman. This is it,” Momoa told host Craig Melvin.
The intergalactic bounty hunter known for his brutal methods and dark humor seems like a natural fit for Momoa’s charismatic intensity. Fans have long speculated about the actor taking on the DC antihero, and now those dreams are finally becoming reality.
Momoa discussed his “Supergirl” role at around the 5-minute mark of the interview below.
Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, “Supergirl” directly adapts the eight-issue comic series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The film follows Kara on a revenge quest across the galaxy alongside young alien girl Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), with Jason Momoa joining as the bounty hunter Lobo.
“Supergirl” arrives in theaters June 26, 2026.
