James Gunn’s “Superman” Director’s Commentary Coming September 23

Superman fans who purchased the hit 2025 film digitally are in for a treat this Monday. Director James Gunn announced that his full director’s commentary for the DC blockbuster will be available September 23 on all digital platforms that support bonus features.

The commentary will arrive alongside other digital-exclusive extras including deleted scenes and a gag reel. Notably, these bonus features won’t be included on the physical Blu-ray release.

Early digital purchasers who bought Superman when it first became available on August 15 will automatically receive these extras at no additional cost. The film, which became 2025’s top-grossing comic book movie, will also see its physical release on September 23.

Gunn shared a preview snippet of his commentary track to build anticipation for the full release.

For fans who haven’t purchased the digital version yet, both digital and physical copies will be available starting Monday with all bonus content included.

Buy or rent “Superman” on Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Plex and Amazon Prime, or pre-order your physical copy on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook + Digital, 4K, Blu-ray and DVD ahead of its release on September 23rd.

NOTE: When you make a purchase using the links in this post, the Superman Homepage receives a percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. It’s a great way to help support our website.

This is confusing to me. It looks like at one part you’re saying the bonus content won’t be on the blu-ray and later it looks like you’re saying it will. Can you provide clarity?

Thanks!
