Eddie's Answers

Angel (angelmex@hotmail.com) asks:
Hi Eddie! I was wondering, it is said that bullets bounce from Superman thanks to the protective aura he has, and that is why when he's caught in a fire only his cape burns. So my question is how can he touch things if nothing penetrates this aura, and therefore, how did his suit penetrated the aura for starters? Does it turns on and off when he wants to?

Eddie: The aura is a tricky thing that things in close proximity to him are protected by it--which is why his costume doesn't rip unless the aura is worn down. It's also been hypothesized that he extends the aura to Lois as well when they are close.
But it is defensive enough to allow him to handle extremely hot objects without feeling them. This is reflexsive, the way our eyes close automatically when it looks like somethings going to get in them.

Brian Holbrook (BAHolbrookX@aol.com) asks:
My question concerns Superman and Batman. Which one is smarter, as in intelligence? I would say Superman because he is in fact Super in every way such as strength, speed, hearing, etc. and naturally wouldn't intelligence be included in that list of supertraits? It just seems Batman is always portrayed as smarter than ol' blue.

Eddie: Superman can read and do things faster, but he has not trained his mind the way Batman has. Bruce really depends on his wits to survive, so I'd have to give him the "A" on intelligence.

Andrew Marden (andrewpmarden@hotmail.com) asks:
Hey Eddie in the recent "Ending Battle" we saw Luthor's knowledge that Clark is Superman disappear. Is Luthor back to his "old" self for good now? Also is Manchester Black really gone for good?

Eddie: Lex doesn't know the secret anymore, but that doesn't mean this story is over... yet. And Manchester is as gone as things are allowed to be in comics. We can safely say Joe and I have no plans to bring HIM back.

Ed Jacobson (jacobson_ed@hotmail.com) asks:
Hi Eddie, were ALL the events of "Ending Battle" a telepathic illusion, or merely Black's "killing" of Lois? If they weren't all illusions, are you guys planning a story to explain how Mongul isn't dead (as per OWAW)?

Eddie: Everything was very real EXCEPT Lois' "death". And Mongul just had his throat torn by Doomsday. He got better.

Katana Octopus (katana_octopus@hotmail.com) asks:
Hey Eddie. In the "Phanteon of The Gods" storyarc, I saw that there's this little problem between Zeus (and most of the gods, I guess), and the Kryptonian Sun God Rao. And seems to me that this is going to be a pretty good subplot. Will we see more references to this in the upcoming issues, or better yet, a conclusion?

Eddie: Unfortunately, this is a story that for now we've put to the side. Nothing big, but a lot of the elements weren't working enough for us to do it. Still there's something cool in Rao that we may yet explore.

Korinth Bleddyn (korinth@yahoo.com) asks:
I know there have been many variations and viewpoints in the Elseworlds, but in your personal opinion, if Lois were to get pregnant with Clark's baby, would the child be superpowered from the womb or would he/she have to have time to absorb solar radiation and develop powers gradually the way Clark did?

Eddie: Clark being the current model of this, it would take sometime for the baby to absorb enough yellow solar radiation before it could manifest some powers.

James Redington (j_redington@yahoo.com) asks:
Hi Eddie, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. I was wondering how about a Superman title in the vein of "Spider-man Tangled Web" or "Legends of the Dark Knight" where guest writers come and write their own Superman stories. These stories could be set in or out of continuity, and feature big star comic talent writing Superman. The fans on the net have been crying out for a book like this, how about it?

Eddie: No, thank you guys for caring enough to ask. It makes this really fun for me.
As for LEGENDS OF SUPERMAN it's not something that I haven't considered. We're shifting some stuff around, and although it's not happening next year, I wouldn't mind doing a book like this sometime in the future. We'll see. Let me know what other types of Super-books you'd like to read. METROPOLIS is our first attempt at something totally unique coming out of the Super-line of books. Let me know what you think.

Nate (n_beilke@hotmail.com) asks:
Mr. Berganza, First of all I would like to say it's truly great that you take time for the fans. I really appreciate all the answers and questions I read here. My question pertains to the art of the superman books. There seems to be quite a rapid movement of a variety of artists circulating through the titles lately. Is it that hard finding a steady artist for these titles or is the fan response that fickle? Oh, and is there any chance we'll see Pacheco or Raney do more than just covers for the Superman titles?

Eddie: Thanks again!
There are a lot of books and the Superman titles cannot miss shipping. This adds to the extra pressure of the usual deadlnes, so it does require some extra hands to keep things runnning. But we will get to see Tom Raney's take on Superman in an upcoming issue of ACTION.
And for the record the regular artists on the titles are:
Scott McDaniel and Andy Owens on SUPERMAN beginning with the amazing and affordable SUPERMAN 10¢ ADVENTURE in January.
Derec Aucoin is Mr. ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN with cool covers by Kevin Nowlan.
And Pascaul Ferry pencils Superman in ACTION. He returns to it full tilt in ACTION #803. Hopefully, you liked his double duty during the "LOST" storyline going on this December.

Thanks again Eddie!

Eddie: Happy Holidays to all and to a Healthy and Happy Super New Year!!!!
