Eddie's Answers

Rick Zimmerman (silentbob123183@hotmail.com) asks:
When will we finally witness the second coming, i.e., when will Ed McGuiness finally return with Jeph Loeb for "Superman/Batman"? I've been waiting months for this sure-to-be-amazing title. When will we see it, and what can we expect?

Eddie: Look no further than this August, Rick. Jeph and Ed are back and with a vengeance. To get a preview of what's in store check out WIZARD #142 on sale at the end of May.

Carey Thompson (wildstr8@netscape.net) asks:
Hey Eddie, I have been a Superman fan since I was in the womb, and thanks to my father and grandfather, I have damn near every Superman comic ever made... I was just wondering, are any plans being made to explore Hypertime as it relates to the Golden Age Superman, Silver Age Superman, and the present day Superman?

Eddie: No, there isn't. Although, the current storyline in SUPERMAN with the Futuresmiths will get into a bit of time travel as we go into issue #200, but it's not "Hypertime" it's twilight time.

Lance Horan (lanball@hotmail.com) asks:
I have an on going feud with a friend of mine. He says Batman can beat Superman because of the kryptonite ring. I say Superman would destroy him. The recent issue of Batman where they go head to head doesn't help my case, but consider the source, it was a Batman comic. So I want to know what you think, who would win?

Eddie: I say check out issue #2 of SUPERMAN/BATMAN on sale in September for how that fight would really play out.

Wyatt Brafford (supermario@attbi.com) asks:
Hey Eddie, First off I would like to thank you for answering everyone's questions. I am 14 years old and have been a Superman fan since before I could read, and I only have one question concerning Superman's speed. In "Superman #191", when he entered the vortex he started to accelerate and go mach 50, and in the beginning of the issue the Flash had commmented on how Clark had gotten faster since last time. But it seems to me that he could only go Mach 50 when he was in the energy, so my question is when he came back from the dead he said that he used to be able to go all the way across the country in 4 minutes which happens to be mach 50. So did he loose his speed after he came back or is it something else?

Eddie: There was more to it in the energy field to keep Superman going full speed, and he has absorbed more sun light since his return from the dead. His transformation to an energy being also affected some of his abilities.

Alvaro Murga (gogobot@latinmail.com) asks:
What happened to Brainiac? I mean the original, not Brainiac 13. Was he absorbed by his future-self (B13) finally? Is he captive somewhere in someplace or is he dead, his mind spread across the universe?

Eddie: He was absorbed into the future B13, but the possibility of that earlier version being around somewhere exists. It's a matter of someone finding and starting that program.

Scott (scottatha1@hotmail.com) asks:
Hey Eddie. I'm wondering if Linda Danvers will ever come back? I know she stopped being Supergirl but where is she? And what is she doing? Can she just sit by and let trouble happen and do nothing? Will the Maiden of Might ever come back?

Eddie: Linda Danvers has gone off into the sunset. I don't want to say never, but for now she's earning some much needed rest. Will she be replaced? There's a young woman claiming to be the Man of Steel's daughter in the current issues of SUPERMAN. Check out her story in that book and how it will play into ACTION COMICS#606-608 as she's joined by Girl 13 (from the "Lost Hearts" storyline of last year) and Natasha Irons, as she gets her own armor. Together these three become the Supergirls.

Jeffrey Ferrer (Jeffreyferrer5000@yahoo.com) asks:
Okay, here's something I never understood. Superman is faster than a speeding bullet, right? He sees a bullet, boom, he's there. Now Superman has faced opponents with equal and possibly superior strength than him, but there are many occasions that he is actually faster than his opponents (Mongul, Parasite, Conduit, Brainiac, etc.) So, my question is, how do these villains manage to punch Superman? If they're slower than him, shouldn't he be able to just dodge their punches?

Eddie: There's usually something else going on than just physical force. In the case of Parasite, he eats away at Superman's powers making him weaker and slower, same with Conduit and his Kryptonite based powers (ditto for Metallo). Then there are those foes that are equally fast or faster. Brainiac strikes at the speed of thought. And last there are foes that are just really powerful like Mongul who can take the super-speed punishment Kal can give and then return it with their own mighter blows.

Krillan Rogers (dominusdesaaddupain@yahoo.com) asks:
Just saw a preview of "Action Comics #803". Gotta tell ya, the idea that Superman would be harmed by immersion in a red sun seems kinda odd, given that you yourself (on this Forum) and your team have established that red solar energy doesn't *sap* Superman's powers... it merely doesn't *feed* him all too much. Kinda figured that, at worst, it'd do aboslutely nothing to Supes and, more likely, it might make him innoticeably stronger. Heck, he fell into a red sun way back during the Krypton Man arc (first humanoid Eradicator tale)... and suffered no trauma as a result. What's going on?

Eddie: No, as you'll see it's what was done to him before hand that hurt him. And it's the fact that he has somepowers that keep him alive in space near a blazing star.

Angel Rosas (domnei@aol.com) asks:
Any plans to open up the pearly gates to us talented nobodies... by way of contest or bribery? Marvel's doing it by way of "Eclipse"... just wondering if DC's thinking of giving it a spin and us a chance?

Eddie: Not so far, but anything is possible. We'll see what will happen. In the meantime work on getting published somewhere and getting noticed, so that we can come to you. It's really hard to break in as a writer, but if you really want to do it keep at it and don't just set your sights on comics.

Thanks again!!!

Eddie: Good luck!
