Eddie's Answers

Don (kidd_of_steel@hotmail.com) asks:
Hey Eddie, I was just reading an issue of "Adventures of Superman" and saw a conversation between Lex and Ruin that raises a question. Ruin says that the more stress Superman is under the more solar radiation he retains. Does this mean that the more stress he's under the more powerful he becomes? Or does this refer to the rate at which his body stores radiation? (I'm just wondering if this corelates to if he gets angries he gets stronger?)

Eddie: To go along with Ruin's madness, it refers to how much solar energy he is using - meaning he burns up more under duress, thus eventually depleting our sun in a couple of thousand years.

Ed Smegel (spootyboyle16@aol.com) asks:
I was wondering... is "For Tomorrow" going to really impact future stories in the Superman universe, or is it going to be mostly contained? (Like "Hush" in Batman)

Eddie: "Hush" spilled into the Bat-books with the character itself, and in the Superman books you will be seeing a new Fortress of Solitude, plus those creatures that Equus and the Priest became will have major ramifications for the entire DCU.

Juan Higgins (higgins@coqui.net) asks:
Hello Eddie. Just wanted to know, how much of a role the new Superman movie will play in the comics? We know that some of the Superman titles took a bit of an idea from the Smallville TV show, so how much will the movie affect the titles or the character once it comes out?

Eddie: We'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Harold Nichols (hnicholssr@yahoo.com) asks:
I had to stop buying comics because the prices are out of hand. Any chance of their going down or at least not going up any more? Any comment on why comics are so expensive?

Eddie: Well, everything costs more lately. Look at gas prices. So do the materials that go into producing a comic. Paper and talent, but I think you see the diffrence from a comic that cost 25¢ to one today. Also we just did an 80 page comic for $1.00 in COUNTDOWN, so when we can, we try to do some special stuff that's extremely affordable. It's just not always possible as we try to improve our production values.

harrison meeko (netslider1@aol.com) asks:
A two-fold question... 1) Are Superman's eyes still sensitive to the different spectrums, allowing him to see on the x-ray level or do his eyes now emitt x-rays? 2) Also his invulnerability, is it still an aura around him, or is his skin super-dense as in the old days?

Eddie: 1) In current continuity he's never emitted X-rays, but it is possible for him to attune his vision to the different ranges of the spectrum; 2) There's an aura around him, but his Kryptonian physiology makes his skin a lot tougher than a normal human's too.

Scott (scottb@minister.com) asks:
Will the other story lines ever catch up to the "For Tomorrow" story set one year in the future? And, if they do, how will you deal with it? Will it happen all over again?

Eddie: Ok, this is how it works, "For Tommorrow" was set a year from when the new teams who took over on ACTION and ADVENTURES started. As the year progressed those books caught up to the point where SUPERMAN started with the vanishing, and that story just took a couple of weeks. We considered showing the vanishing in the other books and the space adventure with GL, but ultimately it was just cleaner to start them all connected in a new storyine at once, which is the Judd Winnick and Ian Churchill story running through the books now.

Justin (notsuper2k@hotmail.com) asks:
Hi Eddie, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. Since many fans are a little confused as to what is and what isn't canon in Superman's history, have you considered releasing a book which shows highlights from Superman's life? I think this would be a great way for fans to understand the new continuity.

Eddie: That's a great idea, and one that we can look at more for next year because Kal's gonna be busy this year. Real busy.

Nelson Medina (kalel68@hotmail.com) asks:
Jeph Loeb stated in a recent interview that Supergirl is more powerful than Superman. How can that be when they are both from Krypton. Are there differences because one is male and the other is female?

Eddie: Superman was really just a regular kid from Krypton, what Supergirl is all about and why she's stronger is the reason you're going to have to buy her book coming this August.

Thanks Eddie!

Eddie: What can I say? It's always fun talking to you guys.
