Injustice 2 Mobile is giving fans a chance to relive the “Superman” movie with playable versions of both the Man of Steel and his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor from the film.
The free-to-play fighting game’s Update 6.6, which launched yesterday, offers players a chance to unlock Legendary Lex Luthor at no cost through a special login calendar running through December 23.
A Revolutionary New Character Design
The DCU version of Lex Luthor represents the most mechanically complex character ever added to Injustice 2 Mobile‘s roster. Breaking from traditional fighting game conventions, Luthor operates on an entirely new resource system called “Funds” rather than the standard Power meter used by other fighters. This corporate-themed mechanic reflects his character as the wealthy CEO of LuthorCorp, allowing players to invest different amounts of Funds into his special attacks for varying levels of power.
Luthor’s unique playstyle extends to his signature Raptor units — mechanical enforcers that inherit Lex’s stats and equipment bonuses. These AI-controlled allies now benefit from team-wide buffs for the first time in the game, opening up fresh strategic possibilities for competitive players.
Beyond Lex: Major Game Improvements
Update 6.6 isn’t just about the Superman tie-in. The developers have overhauled Solo Raids with seasonal rotation, clearer progression systems, and a new Vault Key mechanic replacing random rewards. The combat interface has also received a visual refresh that displays more status effects simultaneously — a welcome quality-of-life improvement for the game’s dedicated community.
The rebalanced Apokolips Artifact Set adds four new items to chase, giving veteran players fresh goals while newcomers can jump in alongside the film’s streaming release.
With both hero and villain from the summer blockbuster now playable, Injustice 2 Mobile offers fans a perfect way to stay connected to James Gunn’s DC Universe reboot as 2025 draws to a close.
