Teri Hatcher was a special guest on a recent episode of the BBC’s popular “QI” program, in which a number of Superman trivia questions were asked.
The actress, who starred as Lois Lane in the 1990s TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, struggled with a few of the questions, not knowing that the “S” symbol on Superman’s chest was revealed to be the Kryptonian symbol for “Hope” in the 2013 movie “Man of Steel”, and also mistakenly referred to Superman’s Kryptonian name as “Jor-El”, before correcting herself. When asked how long she played Lois Lane, she joked: “Clearly not long enough”.

I think she should be given a break with those questions. When she was Lois, the S on Superman’s chest was his family’s insignia. It wasn’t until the Snyder films that they changed that. And it’s been over 20 years since she played the role of Lois Lane( I’m not counting her cosplaying at comic con this past summer),so she might be a bit rusty on what is common knowledge for the Superman fan community. Well, an actor cannot be expected to memorize various aspects of their own shows lore and various other versions the same way a fan would. Also the stuff with \S/ meaning anything other than the obvious is extraneous and IIRC was invented by Mario Puzo in his original draft for the movie as way to solve the problem of reconciling the suit coming from Krypton but knowing that Kal-El would not have ever been called Superman while on Krypton. I agree MattComics. And Lois did name Superman. I think she answered it correctly.
It’s a very light-hearted show. Alan Davies (the guy who answered ‘Simon’) is on every week and many of the questions are deliberately designed to make him look bad. But he takes it in good spirit and I’m sure Teri did as well.
