Henry Cavill Talks About Snyder Cut and the Future of Superman

Promoting his new Netflix series “The Witcher,” Henry Cavill sat down for a number of interviews recently in which he spoke about Superman, toxic fandom, and whether he’s seen the “Snyder Cut” of the “Justice League” movie.

What do you think? Is Henry still your Superman? Will we get to see him wear the cape again?

Henry is done as Superman. He will be recast. If it means more regular films I’m okay with that. The studio wants a clean slate, just as they have now with Pattinson.

I’ve heard the argument that filming the Witcher wouldn’t get in the way of filming another Man of Steel movie because filming a show wouldn’t take as long as filming a movie. This may be true however, filming a movie might take longer than filming a show. So if he were to film another Superman movie as well as getting ready to do another season of The Witcher, it might very likely get in the way of The Witcher if he’s already obligated to do more than one season. So the Witcher series probably wouldn’t get in the way of… Read more »

I really don’t want to be a negative Nancy, but I lost interest the second I read “Zack Snyder’s masterful MAN OF STEEL”.
If I were tied down and given a choice between a single viewing of Man of Steel or a marathon of Superman III, Superman IV, and the 1975 TV Musical… Bring on the bad dancing!!

Anyone that listens to what he said and doesn’t think he’s Superman is going out of their way to do so. It goes back to the biggest mistake made in not moving from MoS directly into a sequel. He obviously want’s the role. At this point I don’t want anyone else but him playing Superman.

Cavill was never “my Superman.” I think he could do the character justice but I did not like MoS or BvS. Cavill isn’t given any room to breathe. It wasn’t until I saw Man from UNCLE that I realized he had a personality and discovered the travesty that was the Zack Snyder Superman.

I really don’t understand. They can’t keep doing the same character over and over. Both MoS and BvS were at lot more along the lines of present and past comic book versions than anything we’ve had. MoS certainly had a much more realistic tone to it. I don’t know what kind of Superman you would consider as “your Superman” but I think the times actually dictate the direction of his character.

I agree. He showed charisma in the role, but Snyder and goyer wrote Superman with no charisma or charm at all. He doesn’t have to be a reeve version or any other version, but as Neil Gaiman recently put it, he should be inspiring. Having him speak in little short generic dialogue bursts isn’t going to cut it. Having a one sided conversation where Zod and Batman are waxing philosophically while Superman just stands there doesn’t do it for me and I see why this version of Superman didn’t catch on with audiences. All that being said, I still want… Read more »

I heard a rumor that Henry will play Schlock Holmes. Has anyone heard of anything about this?

No…… but I think he would make a pretty good James Bond!

As Sundevil said, the movie is about Enola Holmes played by Millie Bobby Brown.
Cavill is Sherlock, naturally not the lead character and I don’t suspect his role is very big. It’s scheduled to release next year.

Yeah that’s the one I was thinking about. Any idea if it’s going to be one installment of a movie series? Will there be more? I ask this because Sherlock has many stories and if Henry will be committed to both a series of the Witcher and a movie series about Sherlock, then that might make it difficult to find any time to do any Superman movies in the near future. And does anyone know if he’s going to return to the mission impossible franchise? If so then that’s another factor as well.

Of course Henry’s still my Superman. He’s been great so far, even if he’s never gotten the chance to be in a crowd-pleaser, and I think he should get that chance. Not to mention what a travesty it’d be to lose Amy Adams or Diane Lane along with him.

Maybe that’s what’s needed with this character. A break from the predictable story lines that include the “Metropolis gang”. If not we’re just going to see the same roles played by different people.
