Henry Cavill Talks About Playing Classic Comic Book Superman

In an interview promoting his new film “Mission Impossible: Fallout”, Henry Cavill tells getFANDOM that not only would he like to see Brainiac in the next Superman movie, but he’d much prefer to play a classic comic book version of Superman next before ever entertaining the idea of playing an evil version of the character.

Henry, it would be a lot of fun to SEE you play that version of Supes.

As I’ve often said, I’ve been waiting for Brainiac on the big screen since the credits rolled in the theater where I saw Superman II as a kid. I never imagined it would be 2018 and they can’t make it past Luthor and Zod.

I would love to see Henry portray That version in a new film, but If there is no sort of Superman announcement at comic con this weekend, I am not going to hold my breath anymore for a sequel.

I’ve been pretty impressed with what we’ve seen of Brainiac on Krypton so I’d be curious to see how a cinematic version would be portrayed. Still think we need to go smaller for a sequel though, so I’d like to see it hit Clark more close to home than having another world ending scenario.

Do it! Warner Brothers, make it happen! It’s time for the big screen appearance of Brainiac. If we finally get a “Man Of Steel 2,” then I want Superman and Brainiac to have great face-to-face dialogue multiple times throughout the film. I want there to be a difference of ideologies and viewpoints between them. And also, Brainiac needs to be both a physical threat and an intellectual threat to Superman. Whatever the case, WB just bring on “Man Of Steel 2” with Brainiac.

He said he’d prefer to play a classic version of the comic book character. Is he talking about any specific classic version or a classic Superman comic story that hasn’t been done on screen? And he said he’d like to do this before entertaining the idea of doing an evil version of this character. Why would he say that? Did I miss something about a possible evil Superman in a movie. I hope that there won’t be any evil Superman movies coming out. I feel like there’s enough of that in the injustice games and comics as is. I’m fine… Read more »

I kind of felt like he was pretty close to his classic comic self in Justice League. Granted he didn’t have a ton of screen time but he was portrayed well enough to make up for it in my opinion.
