Henry Cavill sat down for a chat with MTV’s Josh Horowitz for a live taping of “Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused” podcast to discuss his storied career, from “Man of Steel” to “The Witcher” to his role in “Enola Holmes 2,” the eagerly anticipated sequel to the hit Netflix movie… and his return to playing Superman.
The interview took place on Wednesday, October 26 at the Kaufmann Concert Hall.
While Henry told Josh that he never gave up hope that he would one day play Superman again, he admits that the experience of putting on the costume again after so many years was quite emotional.
“I went to Warner Bros.’ studio in the UK and got back in the suit. It was a very powerful moment for me. I wasn’t sure how I would feel… whether it would be something very emotionally connective because I put the Man of Steel suit back on. I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit. It was important for me to be standing there and enjoying that moment. That is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again.”
“The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now. I never gave up hope,” Cavill explained. “It’s amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”
As for the upcoming film and whether he could discuss which writers or directors were being approached, Cavill responded, “You know I can’t tell you that. Right now I can’t share anything… but in time, I’ll be able to share and everyone will hear all the exciting things to come”

During the interview a video question from Zack Snyder was played in which the “Man of Steel” director asked Cavill if he remembered their time filming the early flying scenes for the film, ending his message saying, “I can’t wait to work with you again.”

Cavill thanked Snyder saying, “He’s a lovely man, and I am enormously appreciative for everything he’s done for me. Those are formative memories of mine, career wise. It is when everything changed. I remember them fondly. Zack if you are watching – thank you my friend.”
Henry is very positive about what’s to come saying, “There is such a bright future ahead for the character, and I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”

I like Man of Steel, but I am beyond excited to hear Henry talk about an “enormously joyful Superman.” That sounds fantastic.
I love it! I’m really looking forward to seeing the “enormously joyful Superman” that Henry Cavill is talking about. We’ve had enough of the Superman who is doubtful of his place in the world and doubtful of what he should do. That was an interesting take on the character. But now it’s time for the real Superman to shine through by being joyful and hopeful. I can’t wait to see how things develop from here and onwards.
