Henry Cavill Jokes About “Batman v Superman” Fight

DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee posted a sketch to Instagram showing Superman and Batman in battle… with the Man of Steel letting loose a dose of heat-vision to finish off the Dark Knight.

Henry Cavill responded to the post saying, “Seeeeee. Was holding back the whole time…”, referencing the fight in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

The image reminds me of the Injustice Superman. Not the best depiction of the greatest superhero. One of the worst in my opinion.

I don’t like injustice Superman.
And I don’t like this picture.

Be not so glum oh fellow chum. Henry and Jim are mildly having fun. 😀 But to be honest…I also had a rough time playing with the Injustice Superman. Much less accepting this version. At least we had a playable good guy version of him beating the living crap out of his Injustice counterpart. If there would be a third game, I’d have the situation rectified why Superman turned twisted: it was Cyborg Superman all along. Posing as Kal-El and took the advantage of his grief by destroying his good name and everything he stood for. That would be the… Read more »

@Superman2878 – I agree with you. I really don’t like the “Injustice” version of Superman as I feel that depiction is….well…an injustice to the character. However, I love this picture because it is a solid, factual reminder that, if he wanted to, Superman could easily destroy Batman. In fact, everyone in the world knows Superman could beat Batman with ease, but only “hardcore Batman fans” are in denial. LOL

I know that Henry and Jim are having fun with this picture, it’s just that it reminds of the scene in the first injustice game where Superman killed Shazam. It was a very hard scene to watch in my opinion. And in this photo, Superman is murdering Batman. And even though they are different in their ways of fighting criminals, they are still friends. I just don’t understand this picture of Superman killing his friend. It’s just too dark and disturbing in my opinion. They may have a history of not getting along at times, but they are still friends.… Read more »

Ugh, I’m so sick of this crap. JL8 online comic version of Superman(boy?) is much better than this. (I know Henry and Jim are joking, but still) I also agree with the rest regarding injustice Superman.

That image might be momentarily satisfying if and ONLY because of how many times DC has went to the well on showing Batman winning this thing. But I really don’t need Superman killing or beating up Batman to validate my love of the character so I really don’t know why some Batman fans and writers need him to constantly and absurdly over-compensate for his not having powers by having him beat up Superman. Besides, with the range of Superman’s powers if you were writing the character right Superman would be be able to defeat him without even needing to “hold… Read more »

In my opinion there have been only two “Batman vs Superman” stories that were written in such a way as to give both characters the proper respect (at least that I’ve read, and I have read a lot of them). First was John Byrne’s take in the Man of Steel mini series where basically Batman was like “yes you can take me in but if you touch me a bomb will go off and a man will die.” Spoilers but the man who would have died was of course Batman as he knew Superman wouldn’t risk killing someone but on… Read more »

I remember that fight as well. If I remember correctly, Superman snapped out of Ivy’s mind control when he sees Lois in danger of falling due to Catwoman holding her from a top of a flag pole or something. Lois accidentally slipped and began to fall causing Superman to snap out of the mind control so he could save Lois. Catwoman wouldn’t intentionally drop Lois, but Batman and Catwoman had to convince Superman that she was in danger. Of course this is only what I remember about the story. It’s been a while since I’ve read that story, so I… Read more »
