Happy 30th Birthday to the Superman Homepage!

Superman Homepage

This month the Superman Homepage celebrates 30 years of bringing you the latest and greatest from the world of the Man of Steel. From humble beginnings in November 1994 to becoming the world’s premier Superman fan site, this journey has been nothing short of… well, super!

From Humble Beginnings to a Heroic Mission for a Lost Friend

For me, the passion for Superman started when I was just a kid, watching Super Friends and Superman cartoons on TV. The Christopher Reeve movies had a huge impact on me as well… and then I grew up. However, that childhood spark became a flame after reading Roger Stern’s The Death and Life of Superman in 1995. I was hooked!

Soon after, I started collecting Superman comics, and my search for more Superman content led me online, where I found an up-to-date fan site called the Superman Homepage. That long-ago Home page, started by Andrew J. Gould, was little more than a few pages about the Superman universe. I reached out to Andrew, and we soon got to exchanging emails about everything Superman related, sharing news and reviews on the latest comics and shows.

When Andrew passed away in 1996, he entrusted me with his vision. Honoring his legacy, I redesigned and expanded the Superman Homepage with a more user-friendly look, added features, and kept the flame of his passion alive.

Rising Through the Ranks: A Premier Superman Resource

By 1999, the Superman Homepage had become a trusted source for Superman fans worldwide, averaging a few hundred visitors daily, and supported by a team of volunteers. We added features like reviews, episode guides, news, trivia quizzes, and forged connections with comic writers, Superman Celebration organizers, and even Christopher Reeve himself!

That same year, we joined forces with a new venture called Fandom, which elevated the Superman Homepage to even greater heights. As part of Fandom, we reached a couple of thousand daily visitors, hosted exclusive interviews with creators like Superman: The Movie‘s director Richard Donner, and received mentions in DC’s Superman comic books themselves!

After Fandom’s closure in 2001, we returned to our independent roots at SupermanHomepage.com, carrying on as a dedicated fan-run website.

Three Decades of Innovation and Connection

From a fan site to a multimedia experience, the Superman Homepage has continued to grow. Over the years we’ve added so much content, introduced a podcast, video reports, and a live show, all while building a strong presence on social media. Our YouTube channel now has over 108,000 subscribers, and our website receives thousands of visitors each day. Our interactive features make the Superman Homepage a true fan experience.

Over the years, the Superman Homepage has contributed to numerous Superman projects, from Superman Returns to the Look, Up in the Sky! documentary. We’ve even had the honor of attending the Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice world premieres, where Henry Cavill himself recognized our hard work and dedication to Superman’s legacy.

30 Years of Super Success – and More to Come!

Today, the Superman Homepage remains your top source for Superman news, interviews, reviews, and more. This milestone isn’t just a celebration of the site—it’s a celebration of our incredible fan community. Thank you for 30 years of support, engagement, and passion!

And thank you to our dedicated team of writers and contributors, some who have been with us for many years. I especially want to thank Michael Bailey, Adam Dechanel, Neal Bailey, Marc Lax, Craig Boehmer, JP Rocha, Tony Parker, Patrick Asselin, James Lantz, Scotty V, Glen Clark, Stephen Durrell, T.A. Steve Younis
