Even John Byrne said that it took a long time to figure that the shield was in fact an “S”. At 1st he just focused in the yellow parts of it and thought they were 2 fishes looking at opposite ways.

As for the Metropolis TV series when it comes to featuring Lois Lane I’m completely behind that and I recognize certainly that she is a role model for girls. As I said another thread I would not even be necessarily opposed to doing a Superman show where we saw the character from Lois’s point of view. But I’m also sick and tired of prequelitis being used as a convenient excuse to duck and dodge presenting us full on Superman. Well…..cute kid stuff! But……I would find it exceptional if your young daughters can actually sit down and watch Supergirl this season and not get bored in about 5 minutes. The show has morphed into a female drama. This show as well as the other CW shows have women for the most part do nothing more than beat men up. The empowered female, the stronger than all men female, the smarter than all men female, the gay females. I think the drawings from your kids are a nice joyous little thing and I appreciate you sharing them with us. Also you’re right about how some kids see the shield where something about the design causes them to focus more on the negative spaces. For some I guess it lasts to adulthood because if I recall correctly John Byrne’s secret to getting his right is to build the symbol by drawing the negative spaces as opposed to drawing the s in the shield and then erasing the inner outline so it blends like other artists do.
