Well I guess were going to part ways here regarding your acknowledgment of the Avenger movies. Aside from the first one I wouldn’t give the last 2 a second viewing unless at gun point. I hope to god we don’t see any of the fluff that was present through out those 2. Lets just all hope that the JL, by virtue of it’s different characters, doesn’t get down graded to Marvel standards. If I see anything resembling Marvel kiddy crap-o-la that will be a deal breaker. We have Superman coming back. If they miss-handle that it’ll be a tragedy that… Read more »
He’s not the Superman I needed and he’s not the one I wanted. That’s just my opinion.
Well this is the direction that we have at this time. If it’s just too harsh for some people then the option would be don’t watch. I can’t imagine that were going to see a different Superman when every things said and done. So from that stand point I think for most of us it will be the story in general. In other words, how is Superman’s character going to play out in the JL. We all have a general understanding of Superman returning. Aside from his role I don’t want the entire movie Marvel-ized!
Although as I said in another post in another topic somewhere, I will wait and see how this movie plays out before I give my opinion on it. To be fair, there still isn’t enough info on what the movie as whole is about for me to give my thoughts on it. It might be good. It might be bad. It could be somewhere in the middle. I don’t know yet, so I’m going to wait and see the movie before I say what I think of Justice League.
For sure but I think it’s safe to say that it’s going to be a lot closer to BvS than going in some total opposite direction. So I would be ready for that. If you think were all going to sit down and see some total opposite Superman than what we’ve seen then right off the bat some people will continue with the same complaints. And it’ll be in their mind that nothings changed. For myself, this will be the third movie he’s in and I just once want someone to call him Superman to his face! Not Kal or… Read more »
The way that Superman has been written, I don’t think that they are going to change him. At the most I think maybe he’ll be more confident in what he’s doing as superman and we won’t see him second guessing the decisions he’s making and we won’t see him wondering if the world needs a superman. As I said before, I can’t make a decision on Justice League yet because I have to see what the story is and where superman going from there. I don’t know if there will be a man of steel 2, or why no one… Read more »
I’m not saying that they should be like marvel even though they have taken a lot from them as it is. The wonder woman movie being a prequel superhero movie set in a world war just like captain America’s movie was. Although to be fair both of their origins take place at a world war. Maybe they could’ve made Wonder Woman without the world war time piece, and instead only mention her first adventure? Then there is the interconnecting superhero films at the end of recent films. So far they did it in batman v superman, and in suicide squad.… Read more »
And to clarify the Wonder Woman topic, maybe she should have had a movie taking place in this time period instead of a world war like marvel’s Captian America did.
I do agree that they should not copy marvel, however I think they need more inspiration for the heroes from the comics and less from how the “real world” would perceive them. I just want to be clear though, I’m not saying it has to be all rainbows and sunshine. What I am saying is that I want to be able to see a superman related film and by the end of that film say “I like what they are doing with superman”. So far it hasn’t happened for me with the current films. That’s why I’m saying I’ll wait… Read more »
And who knows, maybe JL will be a movie where at the end of the film everybody likes Superman. Not just one group but everybody. So I’ll wait and see how superman will be in this film and then I decide if I like what they are doing. I think that’s fair.
Well……I think their too far into this character to pull some about face and presto, here’s the NEW Superman! This format of how his character is portrayed will not be a crucial point as the amount of time we will actually see him is going to be probably limited. The very nature of JL is going to be mostly revolving around the other characters. Superman will be along for the ride probably much nearer the end than any other part of the movie. I for one am prepared to except that as this might be the last time we see… Read more »
As I said before, I’m going to wait and see the film before I give my opinion on their latest direction that they will take superman. Who knows? Maybe everybody will like what they did with superman by the end of this film. Time will tell I guess.
Look, the way I see it is that even though the current Superman isn’t the way I like or hoped he would be, it may turn out that later in this current film series that the people in charge of the mos series will find some middle ground for everyone in this version. In the mean time I’m happy with Tyler Hoechlin’s tv Superman. And that’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with that. Granted his version is not perfect, but that’s ok. I ask this, Superman should make his fans happy right? I’m not talking about his character, but what I… Read more »
Are you kidding me with the last outing of him on Supergirl??? That puke episode is just around the corner and if I could print it out as toilet paper I wouldn’t use it. (Although that’s what deserves to be on it.) I’m sorry but your living in the past. If that’s where you want to be then so be it but your going to be disappointed for many year to come. Your version of the Superman character is done with. Time to stop antique comparisons and move on.
So it’s ok to criticize Hoechlin’s Superman but not Cavill’s? I’m trying to find some middle ground with this conversation. Im trying to find something that we can agree on. Why can’t we agree to disagree? That’s sounds logical to me.
And as I recall batman v superman had its problems. And there were a lot of them.
So yeah, give me the” nostalgic” version of superman any day of the week. At least I know that the one I’m watching on the Supergirl tv series at least is recognizable as superman rather than whatever it is they’re giving us in the theater.
And as for ” being disappointed for many years to come”, I won’t be.
We may all be disappointed for years as after the JL his character might be shelved for unknown length of time.
Well they tried that. And it’s called Superman Returns. Not as well received as they had hoped. If fact doing nostalgic Superman is over with. So no one should hold out for a repeat of that. As for what the CW network does. They have a solid track record of doing “things” in a totally different way and direction. And it’s SO par for the course that they would abuse the Superman character in a way that had him return and get bested in a fight with Supergirl. I like the CW shows, but one can only take so much… Read more »
You may see it that way, but I know for a fact that others like myself don’t. There are a lot of people out there who like the superman of the supergirl universe. And as far as calling it “barf”, the dceu has done worse. So until they fix superman in the movies, there won’t be much improvement the way they are running business. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And they tried fixing something that wasn’t broken for superman in recent movies.
And as for superman returns, Brandon Routh did a superb job in that film. The problems with the story was the writers fault not his. And for “nostalgic” being over, it’s not since Hoechlin’s version of Superman has a fanbase. And I’m sure that we will see him in the role again.
If he’s going to get b-slapped by Supergirl lets hope we never do.
Well then within the CW’s version you’ve got YOUR Superman. Certainly don’t want that transfeerd to the big screen. And what wasn’t broke from ages ago worked during that time. In this day and age it would flop like a dead fish. All your desires for this character seem to point towards the past. We are “PAST” that! You stand in one place too long and no matter how good you look, people will throw rocks at you.
At least superman’s fight with his cousin was a fair one. She didn’t have to use Kryptonie like Robocop, oops I meant the so called Batman. And just because they make Cavill look like superman doesn’t mean he is superman. After all they don’t call him superman in these films, so why would he be? I guess people confuse him with batman since they gave him the same background story. Compare it to batman begins. Hero loses loved ones, travels the world for meaning of life, decides to fight evil, fights evil in a big city, then broods rest of… Read more »
