Heritage Auctions has just concluded its Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction #7245, where a rare George Reeves Superman costume, incomplete and with moth holes, has sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
For years the George Reeves Superman suit, which experts believe dates to the show’s 1954-58 run in color, had a prominent place in collector John Azarian’s home. This suit just flew to a new owner for $350,000!
Other Superman items of interest included a Kirk Alyn Superman costume from the 1948/1950 Superman serials, and a Kryptonian Crystal from Superman’s Fortress of Solitude from “Superman: The Movie”. A Christopher Reeve “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” costume sold for US$187,500.
Darn!! Outbid again…
So the George Reeves Superman suit was sold for $350,000 and the Christopher Reeve Superman IV: The Quest for Peace suit was sold for $187,500. I wonder how much a Brandon Routh Superman suit would sell for.
And speaking of Brandon’s Superman, please bring back Brandon Routh for Superman on HBOmax DC/WB.
