Full Video of Unmade Christopher Reeve “Superman Reborn” Script Reading

Superman fans gathered in Los Angeles on November 12, 2024 for a once-in-a-lifetime event: the first live script reading of “Superman Reborn,” the unproduced fifth film in the Christopher Reeve Superman series. The Broadwater Theater on Santa Monica Blvd was filled with enthusiasts who eagerly anticipated hearing a story that has remained largely unseen—until now.

The event was professionally recorded and is now available on David Kocher’s YouTube Channel, providing an opportunity for Superman enthusiasts everywhere to enjoy this rare performance and the post-reading insights from the creators.

“SUPERMAN REBORN” was originally developed as the next installment in the Superman franchise with the blessing of Producer Ilya Salkind and writers Mark Jones and Cary Bates. While a third draft of this story leaked online years ago, fans are in for a treat—this performance will showcase the exclusive, never-before-seen first draft. This script, initially approved by Salkind and the creative team, predates revisions from WB/DC and promises unique insights into the direction they envisioned for Superman’s legacy.

The cast for the evening included Jonathan Cahill as Superman/Clark Kent, Kenna Roubicek as Lois Lane, Jamal Henderson as Brainiac, and a supporting ensemble that captured the essence of Metropolis. Narrated by Ray Carsillo and produced by David Kocher and Ray Carsillo, the event evoked the spirit of Superman’s heyday, thrilling long-time fans and newcomers alike.

After the reading, attendees had the chance to participate in a live Q&A session with producer Ilya Salkind and screenwriter Mark Jones. This intimate discussion revealed behind-the-scenes insights into the story’s origins, its place in Superman lore, and the challenges that prevented the film from being made.

In addition to celebrating Reeve’s cinematic legacy, the event raised awareness for spinal cord injury research through the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. Attendees could scan a QR code onsite to make donations, honoring Reeve not only as Superman but also as an advocate for those with spinal cord injuries.
