Yeah, that’s a no from me. Frank Miller is a hack who hasn’t written anything of value in 20 years and JRJr cannot draw for $#!+. He is the worst artist working today, I absolutely cannot stand his style. He only has a job because of who his father is.

Oh wow, the two people who should never be let near Superman working on Superman.

What could go wrong? Do we take bets on how grim dark they make him?

I’ll just hope it’s better than the weak-sauce that was “Man & Superman”. 😀

Well at least Bendis isn’t working on this comic.
He’s not right?

People like Frank Miller are exactly why I don’t hate Bendis too much. Say what you will about Bendis’ stories, his characterization of Superman is at least on point.

He should not be within a light year of Superman.

I respect Frank for his contributions to the comicbook industry back in the day, but he was never good at portraying Superman. In fact, his portrayal of The Big Blue Boyscout in his seminal Batman works have done more damage to Superman’s image than, say, Superman 4. He should,be stuck to more grounded characters like The Question or Green Arrow, rather than going for Supes. I understand the artistic need to “set the record straight” and prove that you can actually write Superman, but the damage was already done a long time ago and it won’t do any favors by… Read more »

Didn’t Romita’s new 52 Superman have a different version of the Superman suit? I don’t remember. It’s been a while since I’ve read that story. I do remember that Superman had some sort of a solar flare power.

Yes. He changed costumes after the first time he unleashed the solar flair in that very same issue, iirc. It didn’t last and it was quickly changed again, if memory serves right. If there is any lesson when it comes to designs in that era, it’s that you can’t beat the classics.

Not a fan of Romita Jr’s art at all. Miller is capable of doing good work, but I will go into this with trepidation. While I respect Millers contributions and will give him credit where it’s due, I don’t know if I can ever forgive him, as a Superman fan, for bringing the hate and competition between him and Batman into the mainstream. I loved Batman: Year One, but I never took to his Batman from dark knight returns… he made him very unlikeable and I hated that it was the version the used for BvS. To be honest, I… Read more »

You bring up a good point about the origin story sundevil82. It seems like every five years we get yet another origin. I mean how many more times can they tell where Superman came from?

I bet five years from now we get yet another surprise, surprise, Superman origin story.

Let me guess, at some point during this “Superman story” Superman will need help from Batman to figure out a problem. OR……Frank Miller will find some kind of way for Superman and Batman to be at odds with each other and Batman will beat-up Superman before realizing that Superman is a good person who is was just holding back the whole time. I could be wrong though.

It definitely wouldn’t surprise me if they did go in that direction GodzillaofSteel.
