Frank Grillo, who will play Rick Flag Sr. in the DCU (as both the voice of the character in “Creature Commandos”) and in live-action in the upcoming “Superman” movie, spoke with Collider.com, where he revealed that he’s seen footage from James Gunn’s 2025 film.
“I’ll tell you something – I hope I don’t get in trouble for this – I got a sneak peek at a little bit of the trailer, and I’m not joking, and I’m not blowing this out of proportion, my skin was hot and I had goosebumps. That’s how great it is.”
As for David Corenswet who plays Superman, Grillo had high praise.
“By the way, this kid, David, is going to be a superstar. A superstar. He’s amazing, as is the rest of the cast in the film, and just James’ take on it. I think it’s gonna be the movie.”
There was some speculation that we might get a first look at the first trailer for the “Superman” movie at CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil, which runs from December 5-8, however James Gunn has confirmed that neither he nor DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran will be in attendance at that convention. It’s still likely that the trailer will be released in early/mid December.
The cast of the film, simply titled “Superman”, features David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent.
Directed by James Gunn, “Superman” is scheduled to be released July 11, 2025.
