Frank Grillo Returns as Rick Flag Sr. in “Superman” Sequel

Frank Grillo is set to reprise his role as Rick Flag Sr. in James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman sequel, “Man of Tomorrow”.

Following his work on “Tulsa King”, Grillo will dive into a 10-week production schedule across the U.K. and Georgia for the DC Universe follow-up. According to the actor, his character will play a significant role in the sequel’s narrative.

“My character, Rick Flag Sr., is a big part of the sequel’s story, so I’m excited about it,” Grillo shared in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Grillo first introduced the character of Rick Flag Sr. in Gunn’s “Superman”, which launches the new DC Universe continuity. The elder Flag is the father of Rick Flag Jr., the character previously portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in “The Suicide Squad”.

With Gunn at the helm continuing to build out his interconnected DC Universe, Grillo’s expanded role suggests Rick Flag Sr. will be crucial to the larger story arc in “Man of Tomorrow”.
