DC Comics’ highly anticipated SUPERMAN/SPIDER-MAN #1 (ONE SHOT) arrives at local comic book shops on Wednesday, March 25, as part of a landmark crossover celebration between DC and Marvel. A companion one-shot from Marvel, “Spider-Man/Superman #1”, is set to follow in April.
The one-shot brings together two of the most iconic superheroes in comics history in what the publishers are billing as a major milestone in the long history of DC-Marvel crossovers.
The lead story, “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility,” is written by Mark Waid with art by Jorge Jiméez, colors by Tomeu Morey, and lettering by Tom Napolitano. In it, reporter Clark Kent and freelance photographer Peter Parker team up to investigate a conspiracy that soon draws Superman and Spider-Man into a universe-spanning threat involving classic villains Brainiac and Doctor Octopus.
The issue is rounded out by seven additional short stories featuring an expansive roster of top comics talent. Tom King and Jim Lee contribute “The World’s Finest,” while Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere deliver “Pages.” Sean Murphy writes and draws “Beyond the Cobwebs of Tomorrow,” and Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber offer “Jimmy Con Carnage.” Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval team up for “The Bridge,” Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott contribute “Bias,” and Gail Simone and Belén Ortega close out the issue with “Blind Date.”
