Film and TV Legend Ed Asner Dies, Aged 91

Emmy award winning actor Ed Asner passed away today, he was 91.

A legend of film and television, Asner will best be remembered for his role as Lou Grant from both “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and its spin-off series “Lou Grant,” but Superman fans might know him better as the voice of Granny Goodness from “Superman: The Animated Series” and the “Superman/Batman: Apocalypse” animated movie.

“We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully,” read an official announcement on Asner’s Twitter account. “Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the longtime actor died of natural causes at his home in Tarzana.
