He’s been called the greatest Superman artist of all time, and the results of this poll seem to back it up, with Curt Swan positioned at the top of this illustrious list of great comic book artists. Alex Ross was a close second, followed by Dan Jurgens and John Byrne.

Glad to see Tom Grummett get some love. I voted for him. But it was unfair, as I wanted to vote Jurgens as well. But I have an equal love for John Byrne, Kerry Gammill and George Perez also. Alex Ross was a close 3rd for me, and so was Jim Lee and Ed McGuinness and Jon Bogdanove. But some of my forst exposure to Superman was the merchandising art by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (praise be his name), and then obviously the Curt Swann is the definitly one of the greatest. I definitely respect Curt Swan and like his stuff but as a kid I gravitated more towards DC Comics Presents than Superman’s main titles because Jose Garcia Lopez’s art hit for me more than Curt Swans. That is not to say his art was bad in any way, the guy was damned good at his craft. There was just a dynamism to guys like Lopez and Byrne that attracted me more.
