Henry clearly believes in Superman. Sadly, WB does not.

It is sad Mattcomics. Not just in the movies, but in tv as well. We should have a Superman tv series, but for whatever reason they just won’t give us one.

I don’t think a TV series would (pun), fly. It just cost too much to do it right week after week. You can clearly see what’s happened on Supergirl. It’s turned more into super grounded drama. I for one wouldn’t want to see a Superman series go that route.

I would think that a least for now it would cost a lot of money since they already have five superhero related shows. Still, I don’t see why they can’t have Superman show up for an episode or two on Supergirl or the other shows. I guess the writers are just waiting for the right opportunity to bring him back.

I mean shows like Supergirl, the flash, and legends of tomorrow are known for having a guest superhero show up from time to time. I can’t see why they can’t rotate Superman’s guest appearances around the shows for an episode or two . It worked well enough last season on Supergirl. And it doesn’t have to be for each week. He can show up for one episode every other month. Or four months to save cost on special effects. If I had to guess, I think for now Superman will only rarely appear as a guest on Supergirl .Which is unfortunate.… Read more »

Seeing what they did in Supergirl’s season 2 finale I prefer Superman not showing again in that series…never again

The script for that episode really is the writers fault and not Tyler’s. He played the part well two out of the three episodes that he was in. I say give it some time. I’m sure that when they bring him back, he will do a great job again.

Kal……I’m in total agreement with you on that. The first time he was used rather well. The second time they undid all that with ridiculous fight in which it had a total nonsensical out come. I as well don’t ever want to see Superman “used” in that fashion again. EVER!

And what about Superman’s fight with the Justice League in the movie? It made no sense. He knew he was fighting the other superheroes and yet they took the plot from pet cemetery, and they admitted in the movie. At least superman didn’t know who he was fighting at the last episode of season 2 of Supergirl due to the fact that he was exposed with silver Kryptonite. There was no reason for him to fight Wonder Woman. And he was on the same side with batman in the battle against doomsday, so his fight with Bruce made no sense.

Maybe so but regarding Supergirl with Superman as guest, they went right after what’s been gong on in the entertainment industry the last several years. And that’s the continuation of women that have confrontations with men. And you see it on almost every TV show and movie. And that’s these rough and tumble 100 lb women that are choreographed to endless proportions that have them beating men up in mindless fights. Karate, judo, boxing, full blowing facial punches. And all with out breaking a nail while the man lays in a beaten heap. It’s all so stupid and they did… Read more »

As I said before, it’s the writers fault not Tyler’s. He was only working with what he was given. As for the outcome of Superman fighting his cousin, of coarse Supergirl would win. It’s her show. I don’t like it either, but I’m not holding it against this version of Superman. As I said before, he did really well two out of the three episodes he was Superman. And just because there was one episode where Tyler’s Superman was out of character, won’t impede in my viewing of any of his future performances as Superman. And I know I’m not… Read more »

Why does Cavill’s version of Superman get a pass when Tyler’s doesn’t? Cavill’s version of Superman went against Batman in BvS and lost ,went all “pet cemetery” on the rest of the justice league and that’s ok? Why does Cavill’s version get a pass and not Tyler? That makes no sense to me.

Spidey2878 You’re focusing all comments on Tyler while no one in this thread spoke about him. We are speaking about how Superman was handled in the season 3 finale, not how Tyler portrayed him. Anyway that childish way of “but in the movies they did it wrong too” is out of place. We’re discussing Supergirl series and the movies have no place here. Anyway Clark fighting the others has total sense. 1st his mind is terribly confused right after being resurrected. I bet your mind (and mine too) would feel the same way. 2nd he is confronted by 3 people… Read more »

How is Batman at fault for superman’s death in BVS? That was doomsday’s doing. What you said makes no sense. Why would he think that batman was responsible for killing him, if doomsday was the one responsible for doing it? And the comparison between the fight with Superman and Supergirl in season two of Supergirl and Superman’s fight with batman in Justice League and in BvS is an unfair one. In fact I’d have to say that Superman’s fight in justice league, and The outcome of the fight between Batman and Superman in BVS was worse. Let’s talk about how… Read more »

And of course Tyler’s portrayal of superman is connected to this topic, he played the part. He only played what he was given, and shouldn’t be blamed for the plot of the story. Also the way the outcome of the fight between Batman and Superman in BVS, says that Batman can beat Superman in a fight. Which to me is just wrong. So to complain about Supergirl beating Superman, when there is no complaints about Batman beating Superman is just wrong.

And I wasn’t the one who started the “what they did in Supergirl’s season 2 finale” part of this conversation. So to say “but in the movies they did it wrong too” “is out of place” I disagree . It is a valid point, since we are here to talk about Superman. And both the movies and the show had Superman fighting another hero at some point.

How is Batman responsible for Superman’s death? He poisoned him not once but twice with kryptonite forcing him to fight Doomsday in a very weakened state. Plus, the kryptonite spear that even knowing would weaken Superman even more, he allowed him to use it while a smart ass like Bruce should know that they would have more chances to win if Supes and Wonder Woman blocked Doomsday while Bats used it. But again, no. Superman had to do the job nearly alone while the great Batman was just looking. Enough fault or you want more? And I’ll say it again:… Read more »

But batman didn’t make superman sacrifice himself against doomsday. That was Superman’s doing. Why would Superman blame some one else for his own sacrifice? It makes NO SENCE. And yes Tyler’s portrayal and the way he handled the character are two different things, but it still matters. And you were the one who brought up how they handled Superman on Supergirl, not me. I’m only trying to be fair with both versions of Superman. And as I said before, I don’t like how they handled him on supergirl either, but I’m not going to let it stop me from watching more… Read more »

Look, I’m not saying that you should like this version. Every one has their own idea of how Superman should be. If anything, I’m only trying to understand certain points of views that I don’t understand. It’s not that I have anything against what you are saying. I do understand some of it, but I just have a different view on it. As long as Superman has fans, I say everybody wins.

Actors are afraid of being typecast for a role like the Man Of Steel’s. And a show like Superman would have to be taken to the next level after Smallville in terms of story telling, VFX and the right caliber of cast. Nowadays he is a tough sell for TV even if his cousin is doing well.

I see your point. Typecasting would be a problem if the actor wants to star in other movies or shows. Still, what an honor it must be for an actor to carry the mantle of superman for a movie or tv series.

Though Tyler Hoechlin as far as I know hasn’t complained about typecasting from the role. So I’m guessing he could still return to play the part. It’s just a matter of if he still wants the part of Superman.

How the terrible ‘Justice League’ gets more votes than the not-bad-but-flawed ‘BvS’, I will never understand.
